Hi All,
I have a Barling's 958 bowl but no stem and have been unable to locate a pic or shape chart showing this particular model so that I can get a new stem made.
Can anyone help?
Bob

Why does that shape number make me think it's a Danish made pipe? What are the actual markings on the pipe?

No other markings other than the shape number so it could be fairly old - I just don't have any idea what the stem should look like so that I can get one made in the same style as the original.

What is the shape/style of the stummel out of curiosity? I think you are going to need Jesse's help on this one. I was thinking of the 908 in my first answer. :)

Pretty standard billiard shape with a round shank. I have a similar period (probably later) bent billiard sized EL and this is about the same size.

Just had a closer look at the pics (that's a well used pipe!) on the ebay listing but I'm not sure the stem is original.
It is a start though!
Thanks again

I own one. The stem is like the one in the photograph, just not beat all to hell. It's pretty much the standard taper for the period. The sides of the stem continue the taper established in the shank, slightly convex curve in the first third that flattens out til it hits the button. Very few people can make a proper Barling stem. Georged is one of the few.

"Many" Thanks!
Any idea of the date range for the 958 shape production Sablebrush? I can't find it in any of the copies of the catalogues I have seen online.
