So I said that I was done collecting at the end of last year. Well...

It's been smoked, though not heavily and looks to be in solid condition. I'll give the pipe a cleaning and then fire it up! Kinda interesting to consider that one of Napoleon's scouts could have pissed on the tree from which this briar was harvested.

Wow, before you joined the forum I knew nothing about Barlings, they weren't on my radar, but wow what elegance. Now I'm keeping my eye out for one. Congratulations on a beautiful addition to your flock.

I think I remember that auction (a couple of weeks ago?). Glad you were able to get this one, Jesse. What a stellar collection of antique Barlings. Whoever bought that one in the 1880s wanted all the bells and whistles.

Sweet one, I would have jumped on that like a chicken on a June bug had I not already had one from 1924. Nowhere near the looker yours is but it smokes fantastic.

Jesse, that is absolutely amazing!!! It really shows the artistry of the Barling's silverwork.

I'm more into oil-curing myself

LOL!
I'm very pleased with this one. It's in really good condition and appears to have been thoroughly cleaned for sale. None of that stale sweet musty smell that so often accompanies an old pipe and is difficult to completely remove.
The Barling sterling work is top notch, nice heavy duty fitments.

You were done collecting until you saw that!!! Amazing it survived in such nice condition. When you compare it to other antiques it seems under valued, at least until your wife finds out about it LOL.
