I'm considering dropping the 50 bucks on this Bari estate pipe, but of course know nothing about them. Anyone here own one, or has owned one? I kinda like the shape of it. It is a freehand style pipe and I like those, and I love the stem. I'm not sure I like the color of the stain though... a bit too orange-ish I think, but I don't hate it either and I'm willing to bet it will look better in person. Which brings up another question... is it considered blasphemy if one sands the stain off an estate and leaves it unfinished or adds a new stain? Anyway... here's the pipe. http://www.ljperetti.com/pipes/Estate%20Pipes/12-11-12/bari.jpg

Bari makes some pretty good pipes. I like the stem on that one.

You can sand it down no problem. You might end up with some nasty surprises, filled pits and such.

Bari makes great pipes. I've never owned a freehand, but I've had two lovats and an author. Solidly made, perfectly drilled, open draft -- that's been my experience.
