Since last week I've had a bad case of the flu. High fever and absolute exhaustion. Been out sick for 7 days straight and only starting to feel a little better.

I still don't have energy to post very often, but will try here and there. Looking forward to fully recovering and finally smoking the Pete Meer I got off of ebay (which has been taunting me ever since receiving it).

I hope you feel better soon! That sucks that you haven't been able to smoke that meer yet.

Well, since you are back from the dead, maybe you can enlighten some of us over on the reincarnation thread.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Man cannot survive except through his mind. He comes on earth unarmed. His brain is his only weapon. But the mind is an attribute of the individual, there is no such thing as a collective brain. The man who thinks must think and act on his own. The reasoning mind cannot work under any form of compulsion. It cannot not be subordinated to the needs, opinions, or wishes of others. It is not an object of sacrifice. ~ Howard Roark (The Fountainhead ~ Ayn Rand 1943)

Happy to hear you're feeling better, Six. The flu this year is a particularly bad strain.

Just curious, did you get you flue shot this year?

Thanks everyone - your comments are appreciated for sure.

Just curious, did you get you flue shot this year?

No - not this year or any year actually. I've only had the flu 2x in my life (now 3x). Once about 35 years ago. And these last 2 years. Each year some members of my company go to a big conference in NYC and they always come back with the flu.

And they all had their flu shots, but still got it and spread it. In regards to getting a shot, I don't trust a business who's entire reason for being is profit.

six, glad to hear you are feeling better. At your age the flu is serious business. lol

The reason I ask if you got a flu shot is everyone I asked who has/had the flu this year all said they didn't get the flu shot this year -- that's more than a dozen now BTW.

I get the flu shot every year. I have young kids around a lot and my wife has an impaired immune system. The shot is costs me nothing (clinic) and I've never gotten the flu even though I've been around more than a few folks that have it (knock on wood) -- the grand kids bring every crawling crud home with them from school.

Glad to hear you're pulling out of the worst of it six. I never get the flu shot either because it makes me sicker than actually getting the flu.

I don't blame people for getting one. I may even get one next year. I don't think vaccinations are all useless.

Still I have trouble trusting pharm companies that invent diseases, spend millions on lobbyists, and get their own top execs into positions of influence within the FDA.

As an aside, I happen to know the daughter of someone who was one of the most powerful people in the industry. Their family is well known. She was even asked to go on Oprah to discuss her family if you can believe that, but her father (still alive in his 90s) said he'd sue her for everything she has if she spoke out.

Anyway - she will tell you the corruption is beyond what you can imagine. Anyway, feel free to take that with a grain of salt, but dig a little deeper into the industry and its practices, and you will begin to smell a rat.

Yep, no flu shot = no job. That's the way it is in most hospitals in this area as well.
