Hello pipe friends! Just picked up a Savinelli punto oro off ebay for $20... It's a sandblast finish and it's an army mount model. Unlike the ones today, it seems to have an acrylic female end for the stem instead of a nickel/ silver cap over the briar. The pipe is missing its stem and I think I'd like to try to recreate what was originally on the pipe. Does anyone here have a similar Savinelli that could possibly measure the taper of the stem? It's a lot easier to measure the male end than the female end. That being said, I do think I could still manage to figure out the taper with some other "less orthodox" methods. Never made a stem from start to finish, but my lathe has helped me re-stem about a dozen other stem-less pipes by now, so this should be a fun challenge. Thanks in advance for any input you may have!
