    Hey guys,
I recently followed an online guide on how to make clove flavored tobacco. I basically mixed kitchen cloves and Captain Black. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that't the gist of it.
So I wanted to ask if cloves are okay to smoke in a pipe? I know they make clove cigars, but I'm not sure if that's a special type of cloves or what. I figure it should be pretty safe, but it's better safe than sorry.
    Thanks!
    Matt

I would imagine that cloves would SERIOUSLY ghost the pipe.

I've never done this, so I don't have any first hand experience. But I've also never heard of this being done, either (in about 24 years of pipe smoking).

I'm a little curious as to WHY you'd want to do it.

Cloves are not good for the lungs . If you so desire the flavor please do so in moderation .

cloves are fine to smoke. In Indonesia they smoke kretek cigarettes, which have clove in them

As long as I got a pipe full of baccy and a nose full of snuff, I'm a happy camper

Du know? I did just get a clove snuff on my last order. Will let you know how it is when I sample it.

Cloves have a medicinal value as well. They have numbing agent that is in the oil of the cloves. Great for tooth ache if you are waiting to go to the dentist.

If you can't pack it, light it, and smoke it then why do it. It's a dieing art that must be rekindled in all of us as fortold by our forefathers.

Words to live by for all pipe smokers.

ive made my own clove RYO cigarettes on numerous occasions and the smashed clove will stain whatever it touches. if you smoke clove in a pipe i would suggest dedicating a pipe to clove blends

I've smoked packs of black, et al, with no problem. After 'bama banned 'em, I tried the DIY clove-cigarettes thing, they screwed up my body for weeks. Be warned.

Try some King's Oriental from Iwan Ries, it has a distinct clove taste:

    I can't believe I haven't comment on this yet...

Check it out my little leprechauns ---- Just For Him - Clove
    It's allready been done baby.

Haven't tried any YET. But JFH stands behind it so it's worth a shot. Post up a quick review if you've had the clove cigs. Let us know how it stands up!

    Hi all,

Just giving you my 2 cents, being from Indonesia - the origins of "kretek", so far cloves are safe to smoke, whether for cigs, as well as for pipe smoke.

I just made my own blend, small bits of fresh virginia and handful of crushed cloves to accompany tambolaka. Man oh man, this blend is goooood.

I smoked cloves in the late 80's until reports came out that they were very bad for the lungs. Blistering or something to that affect. They burn pretty hot.
