Here is April's thread. Let's see if we can beat March's!

Sterling Double Eagle in a Meer lined Belgravia Straight Billiard. Just got a sample from Sterling. The bargain blend sample - my vote is still out. Sat down and puffed through 2 bowls of Double Eagle - hmmm - it is like nothing I have ever had before - very cool smoke - no perique though - just unplugged Burleys with some kind of topping - at some times a maple flavor comes through. I have to say I kind of like it.

Had a bowl of Prince Albert earlier in my meer. For as dry as PA smokes, it leaves the shank filthy with a capital F.

That was my 3rd bowl ever of PA and I really like it. I tried it a long time ago when I was first getting into RYO and wasn't really impressed. I hadn't bought it since I started smoking a pipe because all the drug store blends where I was buying them (cigarette outlets) were stale enough that the pouch had shrunk enough that the smell of incense had permeated. If incense is involved in the experience, I at least want a piece of tail and a buzz.

In that regard, I totally respect nonsmokers to want a smoke free restaurant. I just wish they'd be happy with voting with their dollars and feet rather than passing ordinances.

I'll be packing a bowl of Benjamin Hartwell's Evening Stroll and enjoying a slug or three of vodka. I deserve it.

I took my son's old Schwinn to the liquor store only to see it open 20 minutes late. There's a biker bar 2 doors down and I went in and had a couple frosty ones and sat there enjoying the irony of what I had parked on the side of the building.

The whole experience was exactly like this:

    Now that's some funny stuff.

You shoulda started a "what are you riding" conversation.

So what kind of tequilla? Given your propensity for shall we say "Bargain Blends" I'm assuming we're not talking Patron.

    Hey unclearthur,

I got my sample from Sterling Tobacco and Jack was nice enough to throw in a sample of Bargain Blend. The nose on the tobacco reminds of my of earth - has a loamy scent to it. The taste - I cant quite figure out. I was kind of hoping for fruitcake - since it is a blend of a bunch of tobaccos or a bargain tobacco he remixed - anyway - have you been smoking this blend for very long? And do find that sometimes it's good and other times not? My vote it is out on this one for now. His Double Eagle is pretty good and I have - 2 ounces of Sweet Briar, 1776 Dominion & 1776 Tavern on the way.

I don't fool around with tequila. I'm more or less a vodka man. I used to drink a fifth or a liter of Heaven Hill bourbon a day, but times have changed and I'm no longer in my 20's.

The only cheap booze that I'm too good for is McCormick "Blended". Other than that, all bets are off.

...still getting around to that bowl of Evening Stroll.
    P.S.,

Gem grain is cheap & a pint of Clear Spring 190 is under $7 in my area. Anyone interested can PM. The only catch is that I'd like a pint of Scotch that isn't Green Stripe.

(Not that there's anything wrong with Usher's Green Stripe. One taste of it could mean 5 years of daily loyalty!)

Frank, how's that peach? From what I read it's more of a brandy based topping-flavor than a true aromatic.
