The irony of George with his cat picture, telling az with his dog picture, that a guy from 'the cats' California won the drawing is awesome...

I was about to buy a ticket but then I had a problem with my Paypal, took a while to fix it.
georged, I didn't know that you were a judge. Did they manage to sell out the tickets this year?

I've had the gig since contest #2. Greg Pease got drafted for contest #3 and he's stayed on since, and the third position has been held by Tad Gage, Adam Davidson, Chuck Stanion, and Rex Poggenpohl. This year's panel had 130 years combined collecting experience.
I don't know if the tickets sold out or not, but I do know each of the seven winner's shares was over $1100.

George, i'm figuring that means at least 80 years of that experience is yours!...:)

Thanks for the info George. That means more than 300 tickets were sold, more than ever, good to know that.

They can sell up to 400 tickets and have never sold out. They sold over $3300 in the "Carvers Helping Carvers" raffle earlier this so they "only" sold $7700 dollars in the carving contest raffle. The last three years they have raised the winners amount to $900, $930, and $1100.

Jeez, sorry for the terrible math. They had to raise $4400 besides what they raised in the Carvers Helping Carvers. They probably sold about 200 tickers in all. The arithmetic is actually (7*1100 - 3300) / 22. It's really a good deal for raffle entrants.

I just spoke my buddy in PA, Dave Jacobson. He was at the show and really enjoyed it. He picked up three Blue Ribands, a Tonni Neilson, a Specially Selected Straight Grain and a 1955 Kaywoodie "Matched Grain" set. I'll get the opportunity to work on the Blue Ribands fro him, so more to come on them.
Overall he really enjoyed the show and banquet. He said folks in KC were very friendly and welcoming. He was able to meet George Dibos and GL Pease, among others.

This is an old video, sadly many of the vendor tables in the video have been replaced by coffee lounge area.

The first picture caught me and my buddy Brad from Stl visiting with NYC collector Pavel Lvov.

I had a great time and picked up this Castello Shape 30 Trademark first thing from Permal of Smokers Haven. 8O
