A local antique shops has a 60's GBD Prehistoric Poker. It includes original box and cloth. It's certainly been smoked but doesn't appear to have been abused.
Their asking price isn't bad, and I think it would make a decent restoration project for me.

Does anyone have one of these guys in good shape that you could photograph,so I could use as a reference? The Prehistoric finish that GBD did looked quite worn and earthy when they were new so I don't know exactly what's correct and what's a byproduct of age/use.

    Thanks in advance!

Here is the shape chart by number.

I have a half bent GBD Prehistoric, I'll remember to put a couple photos when I get home if all you need is finish reference

Nowhere in the world will such a brotherly feeling of confidence be experienced as amongst those who sit together smoking their pipes

    Thanks for the links!
Maybe smokershaven can furnish a couple more pics for me.

Pagan, I'd welcome any detailed pics of the stummel finish/detail.

That is a nice looking pipe.

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."

When I went to check it out I didn't take any pics, but my friend who spotted it sent me one.. not the best picture but you get the idea.

Stem was still good and tight. Clear Perspex has the textbook staining but didn't have any noticeable chomp marks.
Really just needs a good cleaning and reaming I think.

Nice looker! And the photo is in the top ten percent of pipe photos I've seen here. (Excluding pros who do for vendors)

I know that you believe you understood what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

It's definitely smoked lol..but I think it's going to clean up nicely.
The box reads 9442, which is a straight pot, but the heel of the pipe reads 9574 which I assume is a bent pot perhaps..with saddle stem. Interesting to know it came from Smokers Haven..

Very nice pipe. You robbed 'em, man. Congrats. Looking forward to your clean-up pics.

Let the stem soak in a hydrogen peroxide/everclear concoction overnight, reamed the bowl out, scrubbed the stummel (inside and out). Used about 20 q-tips I'd say. It's much improved and you can actually make out the grain on the rim now.
I've never owned or smoked any kind of pot..but the chamber is easily the widest of any pipes I own. It's also VERY light at 1.3 ounces. I'd guess it's an 1/8 bent..clenches comfortably regardless.

My tab doesn't take the best pics but here's a few anyway.
