Anyone else ever try/like Sillem's Black pipe tobacco? I bought it on a drunken whimsy one evening several months ago thinking it sounded like vile unicorn puke. And I swear it is one of the most bizarro blends I've encountered... but, stunned beyond belief, I really have been totally enjoying it! Here's their catalog description:
"Extravagant is the right word to characterize this mixture. We have revolutionized the traditional old English art of blending. The main ingredient is the finest spicy smoky Latakia. By adding highly aromatic Black Cavendish, this blend becomes smoother. A small portion of Burley gives a slight toasted aroma, and a pinch of bright Virginia brings a subtle sweet note. Mellow, but yet full-bodied aromas of honey and fruit essences result in a unique flavor. This tobacco will surely be a delight."
It is such an olifactory and savory cacophony of tastes and aromas, I can't even begin to explain it. It IS SWEET, rich, and complex. It does not leave a goopy mess at the bottom of my bowl. And I have found myself wanting more. Who would have thunk it??!!
