If I posted what I really want to say about and call the Antis, I would have to ban myself. LOL

I do agree that we have to start fighting back!

    I frequently tell them.

"At least I smoke here, unlike you that will be smoking in the hereafter"

Problem is most of them don't appreciate the insult

You know, I never liked Nazi’s much. They conjure up images of things that are unpleasant and most distasteful. And what were Nazi’s but arrogant, bullying, angry people with the belief that they were superior and knew what was best for everyone else.

    Hence the Smoke Nazi.

The term really fits those zealots who are hell bent on ending the evils of smoking for the entire world. They are self righteous and have zero tolerance for other people’s views. Yes, they know what’s best for us. Yes they are here to save you and I from the perils of disease and other nasty things they think might happen if we continue on our path of annihilation.

But what if I don’t want to be saved?

Well, whether you like it or not, they are here to save us all from ourselves, because we are obviously all too damned stupid to make conscious and intelligent choices when regarding our own lives. Oh thank you Mr. Smoke Nazi – thank you so much for playing God. Oh, thank you for saving my fellow man from the perils of second hand smoke by outlawing smoking everywhere - just to save my sorry ass. Thank you especially for eliminating smoking in public parks and golf courses, where there are wide open spaces and gazillions of gallons of fresh air for everyone to breathe. Thank you for not letting me smoke in my car, that was awfully considerate.

Oh, now I can’t forget, thank you so incredibly much for not allowing bar and restaurant owners to not have smoking in the places that they own and pay for. It is so appreciated that you have trampled on their constitutional rights told them what they can and can’t do, and instructed them on how to conduct business. And again, you are doing the kind deed of saving us local citizens from ourselves because we are just too goddamned moronic and bone-headed to make a clear choice of whether or not to walk into an establishment that allows smoking.

Gosh, you people are just what the doctor ordered ... Not!

Oh, hey Nazi person. While you’re at it, keep pressuring the government to raise taxes on tobacco. No, really, great idea. You’ll make smoking so expensive that the world will have to quit. And then, the billions that are raised in tax revenues each year will just have to come from somewhere else. Maybe more can come out of your salary? I mean, you don’t really give Uncle Sam enough of your hard earned dough, do you? Come on, you’re a patriot with all your do-gooder politically correct smoke killing work. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind shilling out a little more money since there won’t be any evil smokes to raise the dough to cover the costs of running this fine nation of ours. I can see you’ve thought this whole thing through.

Okay Mr. person who wants to play God so bad. The gloves are off and I’m going to punch your face in. No, really, you annoy the hell out of me. Stay out of my personal life. You can educate to kids, that’s well and fine. Sure, pregnant mothers shouldn’t puff. But please don’t tell a grown up what he can and cannot do – especially if it isn’t hurting anyone around him. Oh please don’t hand me your second hand smoke horse-crap again. Please produce a death certificate of anyone who has gone on record of dying from second hand smoke. You can’t, because it doesn’t exist. And now you are touting THIRD HAND smoke! Good lord, people getting disease and dying from smelling a carpet or a sweater. Are you completely mental? Next will be the dangerous effects of fourth hand smoke from watching someone on TV or in the movies having a smoke. Then we’ll have fifth hand smoke which will derive from people just talking about it. God please save us all from the impending apocalyptic doom.

Hey Smoke Nazi… you’re a smug, angry turd and I don’t really like you very much. You want to take away my passion and my love and that is not going to happen - you hear me? Yeah, yeah, yeah, Mr. Parrot, just keep squawking the same rhetoric over and over and over: Smoking is bad for you. Hey, you drink soda? Eat meat? Munch on chips? Take a sip of booze or two? Scarf a Jelly donut once in a while? Take a hit of reefer in the past? Yeah, I knew you did.

Of course you realize that stuff is all much safer than pipe smoking. Hey, you ever breathe in bus fumes or walk around the big city? How about drink a little tap water?

Bro, I hate to tell you, but you haven’t got much longer to live and I suggest you start smoking pipes and learn to live your life a little.

The Sec. Of State, Hillary Clinton is an avid Anti-Smoking politician, but I wonder if this was always so or if she developed a hatred for tobacco, after Bill & Monica became Cigar Lovers.

I always had a fantasy of using Hillary's forehead to knock out the dottle in my pipe.

I live in southern Ca. That is almost enough said. The town I live in, it is still legal for me to sit on my top floor apartment, breath in the smog and smoke my pipe. Just a few hills separate me from Calabasas Ca. where it is illegal to smoke anywhere in public. Talk about Nazis. Real stormtroopers. Late at night when I hear the coyotes howl, I swear I can just feel the bastards coming.

We could feed the Anti Smoking Nazis to the Coyotes

Though I hate to be cruel to animals

Come to think of it good old Bill preferred a diet of Monica to Ms Anti Smoking Nazi, so the Coyotes would probably turn up their noses at them too.........

Every year around this time the Government in T&T broadcast their budget for the coming year. Its usually a way to either get more money from us poor sods, or buy votes when an election is coming up.

Yesterday was budget day, and as expected Tobacco and Alcohol Taxes were increased by 30%

    Personally this hits me badly.

I buy my pipe baccy in USA and have it sent to Miami, so I am paying whatever State and Federal Taxes apply

    My Additional cost are

    1) Shipping to T&T
    2) Duty on (Cost + #1)
    3) VAT on (Cost, #1 and #2)

So it really adds up, a tin of baccy at US$7.00 gets up to close to US$14.00 by the time I get it.........

And this will increase with the new duties added yesterday. And for what?

The Roads here are full of pot holes.
Every house needs a Tank and Water Pump as the water supply is irregular at best.
    Public Transport is a Joke.
Health Care, a few months ago the wife fell down and I took her to the closest Hospital for x-rays. It was closed for the day
Schools, leak, don't have adequate plumbing or facilities, some have even been known to fall down with the students inside.
National Security and Police. We are now considered the Kidnap Capital of the world, a population of 1.4 million and an average of
    10 murders per day

But at least I have the constellation of knowing my Tobacco Taxes are well spent, as every politician can afford, a Black Mercedes and SUV, live in a house that cost around 10 million, and got to shop in Miami and NY for wide screen TV and other electronic devices almost every other month. Of course they travel on the State Owned Airline, for free. When the Airline goes broke they close it down, fire any one the need to eliminate, then start it up with a whole new name. As they have diplomatic status they don't pay duties and VAT like us mere mortals.

IT IS SO GOOD TO KNOW THAT THESE PEOPLE HAVE MY INTEREST AT HEART.

So I sleep soundly at night knowing my baccy taxes are being put to good use.

COMPULSORY FLORIDA STORY: The headline alone is attention-getting: "Woman
Arrested for Using Air Freshener". The parties were not named, but a
woman called police because a neighbor objected to her smoking, and
demonstrated that by spraying the back of her head with air freshener
for almost a full minute (Glade Potpourri brand, if you must know). The
assailant allegedly said, "I will do it again, and take it to the
Supreme Court because I have the right to breathe fresh air," the
police report said. Officers arrested her for battery. The town in

About a year before I retired, I was in a truckstop in Wisconsin to purchase some supplies. Ahead of me in the checkout line was a female truck driver. You know the type, large with a ruddy complection, croked teeth, stinking of cheap cologne to cover the "other" aromas and clothes that should have been tossed six months ago. She actually took offense to my pipe tobacco and said so in no uncertian terms. I told her I took offense to her looks, smell and holier than thou attitude I sugested she should stand out in the rain to clean herself, her clothes and her language.

I got several cheers from the other people gathered around.

I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane.

Before long we will not be allowed to wear aftershave or perfume lest someone smell it and become offended. Let the factories belch all their smoke. The factory owners wife who complains about second hand smoke cares nothing of that.

I walked down to the Metro train station this morning. I wanted to try an experiment. I wanted to see if I would get any complaints if I sat down on a bench and smoked my pipe while others waited on the next train. This is an open air platform mind you. So, I fired up my pipe loaded with P.S. Luxury Bullseye Flake. Not one person complained or gave me the evil eye. Some actually smiled. This is a small town. Known for being conservative. Had I been 20 miles away in Los Angeles, I am certain the outcome would have been quite different. I was proud of those people. I had a little fun as well.

That's cool dunendain. In LA you would have been tarred & feathered.

I just got back from shopping downtown with Laura. I was smoking one of my new Charatans and the Peterson Merry Xmas tobacco. I got a couple of smiles and a couple of curious looks, but no complaints.

I had a nice experience yesterday. I was sitting in a beer garden, in a Danish village in central California. I am smoking my pipe, and a little old lady walked up and asked me what blend I had in my pipe. She practically put her nose in my pipe. I told her it was Peter Stokkebye Danish Whisky. Her husband, who was in his 80s was with her. She told me and my wife Leta, that she made him smoke outdoors. They had gotten off a tourist bus and had Canadian name plates. Poor guy. He asked me where I bought the P.S. Whisky, and I directed him to the tobak shop. It was a cool thing.

I got several smiles from others as well. I knew I was far from LA.

For anyone interested in the Danish village, the name of the town is Solvang. All of buildings are of Danish architecture. Of course, the tobacco shop sold only Peter Stokkebye. That was fine by me. I am a big fan of the P.S. line. I picked up some English Oriental Supreme. An early morning smoke, that is a must try for English fans.

I go out of my way to be considerate to non-smokers. Still, I get the occasional Nazi stare...very disconcerting. Jim Bennington, my local tobacconist has been in the famy business since he was a kid. He now believes that, within the next 5 years, smoking will be banned in tobacco shops. How crazy can we get! It's like banning the use of alcohol in pubs. If we don't push back, nanny could be carrying a very big stick very soon. Solidariy, gentlemen.

".... within the next 5 years, smoking will be banned in tobacco shops."

It's already happening. In San Angelo, Texas the only quality pipe/cigar shop is in a strip mall and because of that, they would have to either ban smoking there or close, according to the recently voter-approved public smoking ban which also bans smoking in bars and restaurants.

http://www.bmj.com/content/326/7398/1057.full. That's an article on second hand smoke. A UCLA professor concluded it was not a statistically sinificant hazard. That's right, UCLA. That's also right. Not a hazard. He was later fired by ucla, but not for bad science. It was for politically incorrect science, and it was quite a story, too. Look him up on line. Dr. James E. Enstrom. I think smokers better organize like the NRA. YOU CAN'T WIN A FIGHT IF YOU ARE NOT ORGANIZED. Our opposition is very organized. And smokers are about as disorganized today as we could possibly be. And let's be honest. We all know where this is going, don't we?

Down South we like gambeling, smoking, women and whisky.
Smoking mixes great with all of the others!
But trouble comes from mixing any of the other three.

My prediction is that laws, in regards to marijuana and tobacco, will reverse roles in the future. It seems I hear a little more every day how the former is being more legalized while the latter is becoming more illegal (at least in use). There you will be in your own home smoking whatever pipe tobacco you could get from the dealer on the street and the feds will be busting down your door and hawling your ass off to jail.

...I don't know. The legislation is pointed in said direction; but I think/hope that the public is waking up. Next is to start removing laws from the books and defunding the beast.

    nativeson,

That's a good link. I quoted that one, as well as

    http://63.234.227.130/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=INTERPRETATIONS&p_id=24602

where OSHA says, "29 CFR 1910.1000 Air contaminants, limits employee exposure to several of the main chemical components found in tobacco smoke. In normal situations, exposures would not exceed these permissible exposure limits (PELs), and, as a matter of prosecutorial discretion, OSHA will not apply the General Duty Clause to ETS.", in posts to the local San Angelo Texas newspeper, but apparently, the voters didn't get it. They voted to ban public smoking earlier this month.

It's an uphill battle. People don't like to be proven WRONG.

I had a small victory a while back.

I was a student at Iowa State about a year ago, and there was this designated smoking area near the sidewalk along the main drag. Someone had moved a park table near it and the area around it was pretty much covered in ashes and cigarette butts.

So its one afternoon where I'm relaxing with a pipe in mouth and reading the paper like I usually would, when this 300 pound student waddles up to me and starts that fake coughing that the nazis like to make when they feel threatened by our smoke.

Naturally, I turn the page and ignore her.

However, she stands where she is and keeps fake coughing, much to my chagrin. In a voice that just reeks of McDonalds and grease she says "Your smoking is damaging my health! Put it out!"

I look over my paper, and quickly snap back with "Tell ya what, I'll quit smoking if you quit that McDonalds habit!"

She turns red and storms/waddles off, leaving me and my paper in peace.

Abe, you should have told her she's blocking your view and to waddle on out of there.

Of course, I never can think of snappy comebacks until it's past.
