I tried setting up an ad campaign for the Chattanooga Pipe Show FB Event page. I set up the settings to target people over 18 that like tobacco pipes in the surrounding southeastern US. It would have targeted about 3400 people. It was flat out denied on FB for having and promoting the sale of tobacco products. This is very frustrating being told what is acceptable and not acceptable.

That bites! Is there anyway you can do it without the word tobacco?
I don't use Facebook but was thinking about it to keep up with my favorite vendors. It seems that is the way to go these days.

Very profound statement. A few days ago one of my friends of an alternative lifestyle posted a pic of a male that I consider porn, then a bunch of his jumped in to make vulgar comments. If it was a scantly clad female, I would be saying the same thing. I dont need to see that stuff but FB seems to have no issue with it whatsoever.

Like much social media, I feel FB lives by coercion and manipulation, all dressed in a lot of cheerful

sociability. It is like some horrible vacation cruise where you are trapped on a ship with a social

director who wants you to be someone you aren't, or to act that way, loudly, in front of groups,

while dancing to, and singing music you don't like. Meantime, someone else is cashing in on your

name and information. If that's "social" media, count me out. No thank you, and no thank you.

+2 on hating FB! They are dishonest, to say the least. I have an account, but the only reason I keep it is there are some people for whom it's my only form of contact. Someday, soon probably, I'll cancel it though. Just can't stand it.

Not on Facebook. Find my life to be much more enjoyable. I understand it may be nice to get the word out on events. But I'd much rather fire up a bowl than stare at pictures of my second cousin's canoe trip.

I've come very close to deleting mine in the past.

There must be some way of getting tobacco past the filters, seeing as how Pipes and Cigars, for example, has a very active Facebook presence.

This site is as close to social media as I get...Maybe those who are making mega millions on sites like Facebook feel that since they don't feel a need to regulate the age of those who use it those who would suggest that the use of a legal product is ok are ruining the youth of America. We should understand that the continueous indoctrination of the antis and those who are making big money while sucking up to them have convinced the vast majority of folks that we who smoke are evil folks who only care about ourselves.Sounds like those in charge of Facebook are definitly not our friends.

These days, especially on the internet, there is no such thing as free speech. It is all controlled by whomever is running the show, whether it's facebook or even here at PM forums. There are some subjects that are verboten. Right or wrong, it's up to those running the platform to decide what they will allow.
It was flat out denied on FB for having and promoting the sale of tobacco products.
Carole Burns, a tobacconist at Pipeworks and Wilke stated once that she never tells people what she does for a living because they equate her profession with criminal activity (or something to that effect).
Sad to say, but due to the media, political pressure, etc. those of us who choose to smoke tobacco are now the "bad" guys.

I feel like Facebook (which I just found out is a word that comes preloaded in my phone's dictionary and is auto capitalized) disrupts the natural order of things. People are meant to come in and out of our lives. The friends that I truly connected with, I maintain contact by phone. On top of that, people seen to treat Facebook as a medium for publishing their social depravity while simultaneously feeling like they have maintained some sort of anonymity. I wonder how many kids on Facebook and twitter would let their parents freely read anything they post on Facebook

This can all be summed up in two words: Political Correctness. It's gotten to the point where the only person I can be open with is my hamster!

Ditto--I stay on it in case someone wants to contact me for a drawing commission. But I still refuse to get a smart phone!
