What are some of your favorite "all day smokes"?

You know, the ones you thoroughly enjoy the flavor of but that you can load an oversize bowl full of and not be reeling from the Vitamin N kick at the end? The pipe equivalent to a session beer.

    Suggestions?

I would have to go with Lane Ltd. 1Q.
It is good, mild, and has a room note that is both familiar and enjoyed by all.
Nic kick is mild and is a blend that you can smoke all day long.
One further point in its favor... It is very affordable.
I try to keep a pound on hand at all times.

A few of my fav all day smokes.

Shorcut To Mushrooms This is a smooth, creamy, earthy smoke. Reminisent of a dark room temp beer. No bite.

Mac Baren's Virginia #1. This is naturally sweet, not complicated, nice grassy/hay undertone. Sweeter then any aromatic I've had yet. Really enjoyable, no bite.

McClelland 5100 Red Cake. This is another Virginia blend. Not as Sweet but very nice. This has more of a tobacco flavor than Virginia #1. You can see how many members on here love this stuff in this thread.

@Lawrence: Just ordered 4oz of 1Q a few days ago. I read your ravings on it long enough, I had to give it a shot

@Spartan: Did the No 1 not bite at all for you? Just the burly?

No, my name is spelled 'Luxury Yacht' but it's actually pronounced 'Throatwobbler Mangrove'.

It's the craziest thing Kam, the two tins you sent me have more bite than a pitbull lol And the Virginia #1 has ZERO bite.

I was in shock. It's pretty amazing.

Weird. I'm smoking the vanilla creme flake right now. Almost all the way through the tin now and no bite. I guess it's just some of their blends.

PS LNF, LBF, or LTF, I could smoke any of these all day.

I'd say just about all of the 7 Seas blends from Mac Baren could be all day smokes, as well as their Vanilla Cream.

    Welcome to the forum, audiophile.

When I want an aromatic, 1Q is for me.

If I'm in the mood for some latakia, any one of the Seattle Pipe Club blends is good.
Of these, Seattle Evening is probably the mildest.

If I smoked all day, those would be my choices. Choosing can be hard though, because I usually only smoke once a day.

Haven't really found an all day smoke. I enjoy Scotty's Stonewall. I'm still trying them all to find my regular buy's.

If you really want a good Straight Virginia try:
    Rattray's Hal O' the Wynd
It does have touch of Perique and maybe something else just to control the flavor.
But, you'll never know they were there.
Nothing short of "OMG this great!"

Another that has a Nic Kick that can give you a real case of the Spins... If you aren't careful.
    And tastes absolutely wonderful...

If I was going to choose an all day smoke it would most probably be SG FVF or St James Flake.Evening times it would be Squadron Leader or Balkan Flage, both SG.

Middleton's Apple or Royal Comfort, 1Q, PS Optimum, or Half&Half ...right now I'm spending a lot of time with Lane's Smokers Pride Black Cavendish mixed equally with Half&Half. This has been an awesome smoke! The H&H ups the Nic and adds sweetness to the very mild vanilla and subtle nutty flavor of the SPBC. Plus the price is right! I plan on cellaring a bunch of this.

I do tend to change my "all day smoke" fairly regularly. In this current cold weather, I am really enjoying Robert Lewis - Wingfield Mixture. It has a really full and interesting flavour without being too strong. One of the few blends I can smoke with my first cup of tea of the day.

@portascat - I have 1Q and BCA. Got the BCA to try. Just finished a bowl of it and again found it a bit tart or harsh. So appreciate the idea of blending it with 1Q. What ratio do you like?

Right now I've been smoking a lot of the Mac Baren Danish Mixture

    Followed by:

    Sterling/1776 Klompen Kloggen
Gawith and Hoggarth's Rum Flake and finally
    Gawith and Hoggarth's Rum Twist

Eric, glad to see that the Brians' Blend has made it into your regular. This has been a daily smoker for me for quite some time and I never tire of it. I go through pounds of it.
