Is it bad to scrub the pipe chamber with an alcohol soaked pipe cleaner? Or does it help to clean it? I used to do it with my cobs and I found it left the next smoke tasting fresh and smooth. I recently bought some higher end briars, and realized that no one else seemed to clean their briars that way, but I find my briars tasting funny and they're only a few bowls in. I'd like to try giving the chamber a good scrub down with ever clear but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't damage the pipe.

Scrubbing the bowl with alcohol is fine. Better is if you can get a retort kit which will allow you to flush the chamber and the entire airway with boiling alcohol. This helps remove musty oil build up.
For a long while I used dry pipe cleaners after almost every single smoke. Since I started dipping them in vodka, rum, whiskey,etc. a few months ago, after every smoke, the taste has significantly improved, and the cleanliness also turned out to be more thorough.
