I've noticed lately that I am getting a much more enjoyable smoke from my pipes if I load a bowl and let it sit overnight and smoke it the next day, rather than smoke it right away.
I cannot come up with a single reason why this should be? Perhaps my bowl loading (gotten a bit out of practice lately) is not so good and the tabac is "settling"? I don't think this is the case as I load a fairly tight bowl, but who knows?
Anyone else notice this or is it just me? Any insight as to why I might be experiencing this?

That's called the Delayed Gratification "Technique" (DGT). Many people experience the same thing as you. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I smoke half bowls often, and often wish the tabac didn't taste like ash and soot when I came back to it later.

Makes sense. Been smoking mostly Capt. Black Royal last couple weeks, and that does tend to run on the moist side. Simple answer for a simple question I guess. Thank you both.
