I stopped by my local tobacco shop the other day and picked up some McClelland Bulk. It was called Full Oriental,

but I suspect its McClelland No. 2045. Tasty smoke, transitions between musty, sometimes slightly floral leaf and sweet Virginia. Latakia is in the back as a foundation. Weak, but cool smoking and enjoyable. I like this oriental leaf.
Does anyone know what oriental leaf is used?

Also, this left an oily film in my mouth, that I don't care for.
Please, someone with experience tell me if there is a McClelland Grand oriental blend, that has this profile, but does it better, without the mystery juice that leaves the oily film.
Thanks
Joe

That doesn't sound so good. You might try Sutliff's Balkan 957. I got that in a goody bag at a pipe show and once I popped the tin, I went right through it.

jitterbugdude,
Thanks, Im seriously considering the blending experiment, but realize that can be costly and lead to nowhere.
Does anyone have experience with McClellands Grand Orientals?
I'm wondering if they are more pure in their processing, or have the typical MC ketchup note in the tin?

Try Drama Reserve and Yenidje Supreme. That should get you really close to figuring it out.
