smokeybear - that's a beauty, a very cool shape too. I think if one shops carefully, they could easily fill an 8 pipe rack (a week's rotation) with dependable smokers for well under $200.
I plan on increasing my number of American classics too. I hope that KW works out for you.

That's a nice pipe, I have a similar model but full bent, it's one of my favorite pipes, I love the built in stinger, it's called the drinkless system or something. It's easy to clean and doesn't get clogged either. It's my VaPer pipe, specifically St. James woods and other McClellands's Va's.

well under $200.
Ya for sure the kaywoodie's / Dr.Grabows / GBD's have some great looking pipes for well under $30 shipped. I think i just evolved into a whole different breed of PAD then the one i was in before.

This is good to know thanks Andrew.

Nice looking KW Smokey.

Anyone thinking about picking up an old KW who is not familiar with them should check out this forum--

Sooo, there are people that dont have a pipe rack full of $25 and under pipes already? Well i guess overall my average is around 30 bucks a pipe, but im just guessing. I find some of the kaywoodies I have to be good smokers, especially if you like to puff like a frieght train. I liked them intially because they helped me regulate my puffs, but as I have learned to puff better, I have thinned out a few recently.

As I understand it, the Kaywoodie pipes that pre-date WWII have four digit codes/shape-codes on them. Is this accurate?

That's a good looking pipe! I hope she smokes good for you. I have a Kaywoodie bent Dublin that I've had for several years, it smokes decent but gurgles pretty bad. I still smoke it, but not as much as my other pipes. I also have a Dr. Graybow Belvedere which had the stinger and also gurgles. They both deliver cool smokes despite the gurgles.

Kaywoodie pipes tend to gurgle because the stinger collects moisture. Just run a pipe cleaner down the stem into the stinger and the problem is solved. (The stinger was invented, as I understand, to make sure no one ever got a big glop of pipe juice in their mouths.)

Haven't smoked it yet but im already grateful for the stinger never want that to happen to me again lol, and i usually pass a pipe cleaner through my stems while smoking so thats not an issue for me since im already accustom to it.
