The ends of pipe cleaners are kind of sharp! 
I was fiddling around with my recently rehab'ed Pete 313 and had one end of a pipe cleaner folder over and managed to put a nice little scratch about halfway around the rim of the bowl. It's not terrible by any stretch, but my retentiveness means I'm gonna do nothing but stare at it for a good while when I use the pipe.
