We took a last minute trip to Cleveland this weekend and had one hell of a Saturday. We've been trying to get to the rock hall, now that Rush was finally inducted (I give up waiting on Judas Priest).
The Rock Hall was fantastic, we spent just about six hours there and could have done a little more. My wife is a big Elvis fan, so she loved that exhibit. The Beatles & Stones exhibits also took at least an hour. The hall is definitely worth the effort.

We had a few drinks after the hall, and talked to a guy who had been in town all week. We asked if there was any live music playing that night. He said the Eagles were playing the arena that evening. I checked Stub Hub, but only found $200-$300 tickets remaining, so gave up on that event. We forgot about it until 7:45, and made a last minute decision to head to the arena to see if there were any scalpers outside. We figured worst case scenario, we strike out, then head for dinner/local music. The exterior of the arena was under construction and a mess. It was cold and rainy and at 8 PM, show time, a ghost town outside. At that point, we gave up and was walking away. A security guard said "no tickets"? We said yep, it was a last minute try. He said go to the Box Office because they had just released $49 tickets for remaining seats. We grabbed a pair of those and had saw a great show. Of course it is only Joe Walsh, Timothy Schimdt and Don Henley from the old band, but Vince Gill and Frey's son filled in nicely. They did a number of Joe Walsh songs (In the City, Life's Been Good to Me, and Rocky Mountain Way) and two James Gang songs, which was cool. We were side stage, but super close, definitely worth the modest cost (for concerts these days).
They played for 2.5 hours, no break and we couldn't remember any hit that they didn't do (encore was Rocky Mountain Way, Hotel California and Desperado). This was the last night for the 2018 tour.

Nice!!! Now if I could only get a show with Pink Floyd as the headliner, I would be in Heaven. Last show, I remember was a light show in Miami where I could stand on the roof of the Hyatt Hotel and watch the show..I was an Assistant GM in those days and could go on the "restricted area" roof. I'm a serious Floyd freak...David Gilmour and Nicky Mason and Richard Wright rock

Very cool Al, I’ve been meaning to get to the Rock n’ Roll HOF myself for years, but it just keeps getting put off, maybe this will get me off my ass to go! I’m glad you and your wife had a great time.

Wow...that's great Al. RRHOF & then the Eagles for $49. Can't beat that.
Of course it is only Joe Walsh, Timothy Schimdt and Don Henley from the old band
Yeah, it's a shame they couldn't have brought Leadon & Felder back in after Frey's passing, but too much old conflict there still I guess.
You should hit Graceland if you haven't yet.
I seem to recall a post from Al on his visit there once.

@pepesdad - I've seen Roger Waters several times. Last year, we were upgraded to seats near the front row. His shows are a spectacle, in addition to the music.
@3rdgy - we've been to Graceland (and the Tupelo museum) more times than I care to remember.... (there's a post here from our epic Memphis/Nashville/New Orleans journey from a few years ago (started with the New Orleans Pipe Show).
We made one last stop before heading back to Maryland, the house used in the filming of "A Christmas Story". I hate that movie, but my wife and daughters watch it endless during the holidays. I could have sworn here was a pipe smoking scene in that movie. If so, I'll send them an period pipe to use as prop

While you were downtown, you should have stopped at Cousin’s Cigars. Sam, who runs the place, is one of Cleveland’s treasures. E.14th/ St. Clair. Handy on street and lot parking.

Sounds like you had a great time. We went to the HOF 1999/2000...I'd like to go back sometime.

We used to have a theory in college that every cassette left unplayed in a car, any car, any cassette, will turn into an Eagles cassette. It explained why every time we would get into a car and put an unmarked cassette into the player, we would hear That Peaceful Easy Feeling or freakin' Seven Bridges Row, ha ha.
Anyways, good on you, it sounds like you had a blast. We went to go see David Byrne a couple of weeks ago. It was mind blowing.

@Cosmic -gratefully, they didn't play Seven Bridges! I could have done without Desperado as well, but the crowd seemed pleased. Woah, Byrne would be awesome, although his new album is a new taste I've not yet acquired.....
