We took a last minute trip to Cleveland this weekend and had one hell of a Saturday. We've been trying to get to the rock hall, now that Rush was finally inducted (I give up waiting on Judas Priest).
The Rock Hall was fantastic, we spent just about six hours there and could have done a little more. My wife is a big Elvis fan, so she loved that exhibit. The Beatles & Stones exhibits also took at least an hour. The hall is definitely worth the effort.
We had a few drinks after the hall, and talked to a guy who had been in town all week. We asked if there was any live music playing that night. He said the Eagles were playing the arena that evening. I checked Stub Hub, but only found $200-$300 tickets remaining, so gave up on that event. We forgot about it until 7:45, and made a last minute decision to head to the arena to see if there were any scalpers outside. We figured worst case scenario, we strike out, then head for dinner/local music. The exterior of the arena was under construction and a mess. It was cold and rainy and at 8 PM, show time, a ghost town outside. At that point, we gave up and was walking away. A security guard said "no tickets"? We said yep, it was a last minute try. He said go to the Box Office because they had just released $49 tickets for remaining seats. We grabbed a pair of those and had saw a great show. Of course it is only Joe Walsh, Timothy Schimdt and Don Henley from the old band, but Vince Gill and Frey's son filled in nicely. They did a number of Joe Walsh songs (In the City, Life's Been Good to Me, and Rocky Mountain Way) and two James Gang songs, which was cool. We were side stage, but super close, definitely worth the modest cost (for concerts these days).
They played for 2.5 hours, no break and we couldn't remember any hit that they didn't do (encore was Rocky Mountain Way, Hotel California and Desperado). This was the last night for the 2018 tour.
