I remember reading a post on the pipes.org forum several years ago where someone posed the question, what was the best smoking pipe you ever had? Marvin Schwartz, long-time moderator of the forum replied unequivocally, Poul Ilsted. That stuck with me and after obtaining one sometime later I was inclined to agree. The openness of the airflow is perfect, creating a great draw that is cool and very dry. That pipe is so easy to light and simply refuses to go out. I wanted more!
Yesterday I got my wish as I won this beautiful Poul Ilsted straight grained bent billiard freehand from Coopersark. According to Rob it’s been very lightly smoked and in mint condition; one of the nicest Ilsted’s he’s seen.

It's a good-sized pipe at 6.125" long and with a bowl height of 2.25". The capacity is similar to that of a ODA size Dunhill. This baby will be perfect for my long commute to and from work. Even though large, it is perfectly balanced and not overly heavy at 74 g.

Now the hard part begins – waiting for the USPS to get it here! :| If it smokes half as good as my first Ilsted, I’ll be a happy man! Even if it doesn’t it’s still a gorgeous piece!
