We'd like to welcome a new writer and a new column to PipesMagazine.com.

Many of you may know "RomeoWood" from the PM forums. He is an expert in a few different epicurean crossover areas, such as tobacco, food, coffee and tea. We are introducing the new category of Drink Accompaniments, and the new article falls into the sub-category; Tea. Many pipe smokers enjoy pairing a steaming cup of tea while puffing on their pipe.

Perhaps you'd like to get a pipe and a cup of tea while you enjoy part one, of what may be a two to three part series, about tea and tobacco by Mr. E. Roberts a.k.a. RomeoWood.

Very interesting article to say the least. I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Just giving this a bump. Very good write-up.

    Good read indeed !

"The fact is, squire, the moment a man takes to a pipe, he becomes a philosopher. It's the poor man's friend; it calms the mind, soothes the temper, and makes a man patient under difficulties. It has made more good men, good husbands, kind masters, indulgent fathers, than any other blessed thing on this universal earth."

Thank you guys, and thanks to Kevin for the chance to get all this otherwise useless information out of my head.
I was actually *this close* to making an hour-long video of myself egesting copious amounts of codswallop in a futile attempt to self-endow some falsely humble vainglory, but Kevin thankfully talked me down off that ledge. Y'all should count your blessings

Like I said above, it's a good read but the only Tea I drink is good ole Southern Iced Sweet Tea. No offence but I wouldn't even know where to start with all the Different tea blends out there. Green Tea, Black Tea, Herbal Tea. But I guess newbies say the same about pipe tobaccos.

I love me some sweet tea too, Bob--nothin' wrong with that (though it's nearly impossible to order a proper one north of the Manson-Nixon line). What you're probably used to is a blended black tea processed by the CTC method (crush, tear, curl). The great thing is that, just like tobacco, anything can taste good--regardless of its price or provenance.

I brew my tea the old fashioned way, or the way my mother taught me. I have some Earl Grey loose tea, I bring my water to near boil, then add tea to seep for about seven minutes. Add water, sugar, orange slices or lemon. Pour over ice and enjoy!!

Great read Romeo - I for one enjoy coffee with my pipes, but it also depends on what I'm smoking, if not coffee, I'll go with Sweet Tea or on the hot side, a nice cup of Earl Grey tea.
