good for you. I had heard from many people that it was good, however when i tried it for the first time i was not a huge fan. it is one of the few times i have ever tried a tobacco and afterwards had no intention of buying it ever again. but everyone has their own taste.

nsfisher, IMO the regular and gold are excellent too but of the three royal is my favorite. I can't speak for black and red.....yet.

nsfisher, what blends do you typically smoke, where you didnt think you would like 7seas royal?

I have been debating ordering some, I generally smoke VA's

i have tried many Macbarens over the yrs and didnt really care for em. the last one i tried was Mixture and that was pretty good but boring, so many ppl say that the original choice is great but i ddnt care for it. Macbarens makes my roof of mouth dry. I always smoked amphora, sail, capt.(white),etc so many otc's. I recently got some froggy, steamroller, larrys blend, anniversary kake and a couple more but i think i like the 7 seas royal just a tad more

Royal is a mellow, slightly sweet and tasty smoke. I picked some up a couple of weeks ago, money well spent.

It's a good blend. I enjoy it a lot. My favourite of the 7 Seas line is the Regular Blend. Then the Royal, then the Black Blend. All good smokes, but I like the Regular the most. Haven't tried the Gold or Red Blend yet.

I did my homework on this blend before I ordered it from Cup O' Joes a few days ago. This is my first time navigating the 7 Seas and, as with any blend, there were both thumbs up and thumbs down on tobaccoreviews.com. I usually smoke English types and want to expand my stock by one more blend, this time an aro. Sounds like a good one!

This blend is simply amazing. It is one of the few aros that has its own sweet "taste" imo. I got lucky when I purchased some about a year ago but I am almost out of my tin.

I am considering trying the others though.

I've only had regular and that's some good stuff. I'm anxious to try all of them but aromatics aren't a regular choice for me. In time though I'm sure I will.

Seems the Royal might be next

I was given a tin of the Red Blend for Christmas. It's a really good blend. A change up from the usual sweet marachino cherry flavour that's normally used in cherry blends. This one is a little more tart, more like wild cherries (as the tin notes). Definately a change up for the better though, the blend tasted wonderful.

My 7 Seas Royal came in the mail today and I gave it a test smoke. Very delightful tin note of chocolate with a bit of caramel. The cut is a soft ribbon, but seemed wet. It smoked heavy and the steam created a bowl gurgle. I have it drying out overnight and I'll give it another try tomorrow. So far, I like the aroma and flavor, but I want to try it after some drying time.

7 Seas Royal is one of my faves! We have the whole line and I like Black the best. Then Royal, Red, Regular and I hated Gold. There is definitely something for everyone in there.

I'm with Cyndi on this one. I'm currently working my way through a tin of 7 Seas Black and loving every puff of it. Regular and Royal are tied in second place for me with Gold bringing up the rear in third.

I have not tried 7 Seas Cherry yet but plan on it very soon!

Still been wanting to try the 7 Seas line. I just wish I could get it in something smaller than 100g tins. Might have to give in and order it next order. I could use an aromatic besides Capt. Black in the cellar.

So far I have tried Royal, Regular and, Gold. Of the three Royal is my favorite. Once I get caught up a bit I will be ordering the other offerings.

nbpiper: Some site sponsors have just about the whole 7 Seas line in bulk. I'm pretty sure smokingpipes.com has about every blend in the line for bulk, so you can order 2oz of it instead of a pound to try it out. At 2oz I think it's around $5.

7 seas in bulk? Thanks for the tip

I haven't tried a lot, but Royal blend is the best tasting aromatic I've come across.

Just tried mine yesterday, very nice. I am off now for the Black, in one of my "Gandalf's" just for you Cyndi.

I'm enjoying a fine Italian pipe filled with 7 Seas Regular as I write this. It is definitely different from my normal blend and I didn't care for it at first, but now it's a real keeper.

I smoke Royal, I just bought 3 tins from JR's. Out of all the aromatics I have tried Royal is at the top of the list with 1Q a close second. I have been smoking english blends and on a whim tried the Royal. I would like the best of both and understand that C&D does have aromatics with latakia in them. Has anyone tried them? If anyone is interested Seven Seas does come in bulk, you can get it at smokingpipes.com.

which one should i try first?

I now have all five and to me they are very distinct. Its hard to say as they are all good. I don't think that you could go wrong with any of them. I have made it a point to get the entire line and I think if I had to I could smoke them all the time with some Plum Pudding to boot and I'd be happy.

Maybe this will help, this is what they are like to me(most prominent flavor first):
    Regular- Cocoa+Vanilla+sweet natural tobacco
    Gold- sweet natural tobacco+whiskey
    Royal-Vanilla+fruit+sweet natural tobacco
Black- (man this one is tough) black licorice+honey+sweet natural tobacco
    Red- tart cherry+sweet natural tobacco

Tried some 7 Seas Royal yesterday with a new pipe. I wasn't impressed with the flavor in my mouth. It had a hint of dirty socks thrown in there. Maybe it's the new pipe that didn't do it Justice. I'll try a seasoned pipe again and then re-evaluate the blend.

I have a Tin of 7 Seas Black also. I hope that doesn't have a hint of dirty shorts mixed in.

I was lucky to get a sample of each of the 7 Seas and decided to try a 7 Seas stack. i took a pinch of each and mixed them together for a bowl in my calabash. man was it good all of them mixed. I think i will get an oz of each and mixem all together and call it my 7 Seas blend. try it.

If you can't pack it, light it, and smoke it then why do it. It's a dieing art that must be rekindled in all of us as fortold by our forefathers.
