If you were going to buy ONE tobacco in a 5lb quantity to smoke and cellar, what would it be?

4noggins "3 Blind Moose." Love that butterscotch aroma and nutty taste. Think I'll put an order in now!

You say "to smoke and cellar."

    My question is two fold:

To smoke now AS WELL AS cellar? Or just cellar IT ALL to enjoy in 3-5 years? Huge difference there.

Also, what Type of Blend are we talking here?

Without clarification, I'll simply guess @ five pound bag all at once and pick a Peter Stokkebye (choose your type of blend yourself, the quality is quite consistent). PS makes very good, decent quality pipe tobaccos that are good values for the money. Cigars International sells many of their PS blends in 5 bound bags for around $100, but all are better when aged a few years or longer, so jar them on receipt.

Isn't one. I can count on one hand the number of blends I have enjoyed consistently, regularly, year in and year out, and none are available as bulks,so we are talking 50-55 tins, or $500 plus.

Peter Stokkebye Balkan Supreme. Love the stuff.

I'd buy 5 boxes of MacBarren Old Dark Fired, or maybe even McClelland 2015 VaPer (Haven't tried it but i like McC virginias and I like VaPers).

Probably Orlik Golden Flake, the stuff is amazing with age and cheap.

PS LBF or LNF. Would be a tough choice.

Anniversary Kake would be a close honorable mention.

The blends I would stock up in such quantity come in either 500g boxes / bags or 50g tins. Were they available in 5lb bags, it would be a slight storage problem considering all the jars involved. I had to re-bag 3+ lbs from Mason jars to zipper seals so I can carry them somewhat easier on the plane moving from Alaska to South Carolina and it was a logistics nightmare.

Thanks for all of the responses. This is not a hard question. You have to choose ONE. This is the only tobacco you will have for a while and will store well and you can smoke some now. CHOOSE ONE. Make a decision. There are so many tobaccos out there that you need to come to some conclusion if the need arises. This question is in the vain of being prepared for the future. What stores well and what do you like. Simple, but not so simple is it?

i have actually hesitated to buy Lane in bulk because I heard Aros don't age that well. I have been buying Mac Baren though. Their Virginias are awe-some! I got some navy flake tins that are 5 years old and they are great. So Maybe Virginia #1 by Mac Baren?

From the bulks I have tried up to now... Peter Stokkebeye Luxury Navy Flake without a doubt. I do have some more on the way now however so that answer could change rather quickly.

Today, do or die, pick just one? I would have to choose Hal O' the Wind from Rattray. It has been giving me a pretty good smoke these past couple of weeks.

Okay, I'll play, even though it is NOT available in 5 lb bags but rather 500g boxes: Gawith Hoggarth Best Brown#2. I have two 500g boxes in the cellar and little over half a box in a jar, so I only need two more 500g boxes to be "on target" ( 5 lbs is 2.25 kg give or take ).

P.S Luxury Bulls Eye medallions work well for me in the bulk department. I've got at least 5 pounds squirrelled away and as it ages, it just keeps getting better.

Be careful what you wish for, as you just might get it.
