Back in the beginning of the year I spent several hours utilizing my google fu skills in search of Penzance. Having read all of the raving reviews I had to try some.

While calling stores all over the nation I found that everyone was out of every Esoterica blend. All but one. He happened to have a few tins of Margate and was selling one per customer.

I picked it up for $15.

It was heavenly. I loved how light yet flavorful it was. The tin note was great. The smoking experience fantastic.

A few months back I found a member here that had a tin for sale that was 4 to 5 years old. His price was fair, $20, so I reached out to him and me made the deal.

Being as I still had 1/2 of my original tin (only smoking it every couple of weeks or so, I delayed opening this tin.

Since buying this recent tin I came across a couple of other deals on 8oz bags of Margate and picked them up as well.

I have a good friend in the Pipe world that has been incredibly generous to my son and I and has given us several ample samples of great blends including RDF, Stonehaven and others. He and I were talking the other day and I learned that he enjoyed Redcake and had never tried Margate.

So, I sent him the remainder of my original Margate tin and a nice helping of some 10 year old Redcake.

This evening, while polishing a couple of ol briars, sippin scotch and listening to Johnny Lang, I decided to pop the tin on the Margate.

    Holy Cow !

First of all I love, love, love the tin note. The doily like wrapping paper was stained and awesome oily brown.

After peeling back the doily wrap and removing the top piece of paper I found a beautiful dark and mottled tightly packed treasure of delicately fine tobacco goodness.

I gently removed small pinches of the lace like ribbons and deposited them into my favorite Margate smoker... My Savinelli 320ks Author.

If I had never had this older tin I could have still died a happy man, based on my experience with the younger tin I'd already enjoyed. But now.... Now I'm completely ruined. Don't get me wrong, any Margate definitely beats No Margate, but this stuff is heavenly.

So here's a big shout out and thanks to all of you who so highly recommended this great blend and to matchstick for selling me this older tin!

I have a few pounds of it and Penzance with a few years on them that I use to add a little zip to other blends. Never really cared much for either on their own.

Gotta love it. One mans trash is another mans treasure. I recently tried Haunted Bookshop and was absolutely "non-plussed" It wasn't bad, I just didn't care for it.

Traded it of to another gentleman that absolutely loved the stuff and sent me some very nice tins in return. Very generous and all parties are happy.

I've seen some amazing generosity, and many otherwise impossible opportunities happen on this forum.
