New Orleans Pipe Show Takes Over Harrahs Casino

The New Orleans Pipe Club is excited to announce that the 2015 New Orleans Pipe Show will be held Oct 3, 2015 at Harrahs Hotel and Casino located at 228 Poydras Street. The show will actually be held on the casino floor, in the Masquerade Night Club!!!! There will be gaming, drinking, flat screen TVs showing football, and YES smoking allowed the entire time throughout the show.

Harrahs Casino is located in the heart of downtown New Orleans at the foot of Canal Street. It is walking distance to some of New Orleans' great restaurants, and dozens of budget priced hotels surround the casino if you chose not to stay at the casino that are less than 3 minutes walking distance. You are 5 minutes walking distance from The Aquarium of the Americas, Canal Place Shopping Center, and The French Quarter!!!

That's right you can walk to all of New Orleans' great attractions from the show. So, if you drive, park your car and forget about it till its time to leave, and if you fly, forget about renting a car, you won't need it...you can walk or take the street car to just about any place your heart desires!!!

That sounds like a heck of a time. I will have to put in for some vacation and try and get down to that. Never been to New Orleans so it would be a great time. Thanks for the info.

That's great. Glad to hear this is really getting some steam. I have never been to New Orleans either, and this might just be a good excuse. With a whole year to plan it, would be silly to not do it.

It's a whole new pipe show concept. The only one I've heard of where you can smoke on the exhibit floor.

Not really, the short lived Gulf Shore show was in a boat casino. Next weeks Vegas and February's Gateway show are also smoke friendly venues.
I hope this show can catch on, generate some local interest and become a regular event.

Thanks Al...yes we are still working on how many vendor tables we can comfortably fit into the space...we should have a firm number in the next few weeks, but like Pylorns said at least 60, and we are hoping for 100..

Congrats to the organizers. There is a website that lists all the pipe shows for the year, so try to get listed there. Notify NASPC and IPCR, too, and they will put the date in their newsletter. There are other things to consider such as a silent auction, invitations to the American and European carvers, the big tobacco manufacturers, donated items for the auction and/or raffle; is there a special room rate at the Harrahs for the show, etc. Lots of work involved for sure.

The wife and I are already planning on this. Went down to the Gulf mid October and the weather is great. Gives more reason to go to this.

Thanks Gigger, yes we are working on all the points you posted...the official website should be up and running very soon and we will have all of those details posted on the website, with hotel information, local attractions, and an updated exhibitor list...

Impressive job! I spoke with many vendors already, and the word is out, this is gonna be great. The one thing that really works is that, there is so much to do in that area of town! This is an experience and will attract all sorts of folks because of where it is located. I am really looking forward to it.

Just outside of the casino is Dragos seafood. Go order some charbroiled oysters. You can thank me later. Really hope I can make this show.

Well heck ... if'n we iz talkin a dozen or Drago's Charbroiled Oysters for an appetizer before heading out to Jacques Imo's for a Godzilla Meets Fried Green Tomaters and then later on over to Tony Angelo's and much later ending up at Morning Call in City Park to enjoy what they do best while sitting at an outside table enjoying a nice pipe. Oh yeah did I mention that before that all starts there is a Crabby Jack Roast Duck Poboy for lunch and then also many copious drinks along the way throughout the day on Friday.

New Orleans is a GREAT city to visit and a Pipe Show is just an added bonus. I've had a room booked since the date was announced and I just might have to schedule a couple more than normal NoLa trips next year to make up for spending a Saturday indoors at a pipe show next October.

Living in Vegas I always chuckle when another city says the word casino.

Best of luck with the show. Hope it's a huge success!

I stumbled across this announcement a month ago and immediately put it on my calendar. I don't get back to nola often but I look forward to meeting you then. Before then, I'll be in nola for my 3rd St. Patrick's Day parade and wanted to encourage any and all to march with your Peterson's if you're marching (as I do) or watching. If you're not marching and want to think about it, go to the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club site and join up. There are many cigar smokers in this parade but not enough pipe smokers (I've seen more Savinelli's than Peterson's but it's all good because we also do a St. Joseph's feast at my house).

More Big News!!!! How does a tour to Mark Ryans Perique Factory sound? What if it also included a tasting of some special D&R pipe tobacco? What if I said we will also have an opportunity to do our own custom blending, guided by Mr Mark Ryan himself and have a great southern style lunch to finish it off? Sounds fun??? well on Friday, Oct 2nd from 9-3 that's exactly what we will be doing to "Kick-Off" the New Orleans Pipe Show!!!

Been alternating a Fall visit to New Orleans and Las Vegas every other year for the past couple of years. I normally schedule the Vegas trip to coincide with the West Coast Pipe Show. Looks like I may want to something similar for New Orleans.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Regarding the lunch ... since it aint Monday and Mondays are red beans and rice days do ya think they will have some white beans and rice instead? How bout a quick stop in LaPlace @ Jacobs for some andouille since you'll basically have to pass right by there on the way, that is if ya hop off I-10 and take Airline Drive. Just thought I would ask. Yeah, your right, perique is more important than andouille.

They will most definitely have white beans and rice with catfish and some of the best chicken and andouille gumbo you've ever had...at least that's the plan...menu always subject to change a bit...but I feel pretty confident these two items will be available

If you can make it, better book an extra day for Preservation Hall (Dixieland classic performance venue),
Gallatoire/Brennans/Antoines and any other upscale dining you can afford, and a stern-wheeler ride up the
    river.
