I was told it was Mexico. Would of never have thought it was China, though I have heard that they will be marketing premium cigars in a few years.

This graphic is from an article condemning tobacco for taking up agricultural "space." That's why some very major players like the US, Brazil, the EU, Turkey, etc. are missing. If anyone is interested in the context:

Oh, yeah! They also smoke CONSIDERABLY more cigarettes. Just doing some rough math, the Chinese smoke 4 trillion (yes trillion) cigarettes a year, whereas US citizens smoke around 357 billion.
Their per capita consumption is over 4 times ours and they have more than 4 times as many people.

Tabacco is a staple of life in China. In the Long March by the Communists before their 1949 takeover, to evade the Nationalist troops, Mao didn't do much marching, according to historians, but was carried most of the way in a sort of sedan chair. One of the supplies he and his leadership cadre always had were cigarettes and cigars.
