I currently smoke Margate, and I haven't looked for a new blend in awhile. Looking for some of the forum's favorite blends. I typically smoke one or 2 bowls a day, usually in the evening so I prefer a more full bodied smoke.
Thanks in advance...
Ron
Hi, welcome.
I'm smoking SHCP Great Hiatus right now, coincidentally. Haven't had it in months, and it's well balanced and smooth for an English.
SPC Plum Pudding is another of my favorites.
Shortcut to Mushrooms from justforhim is also a good one.
Honorable mention for Frog Morton Across the Pond
Thanks for the responses.
+1 for Penzance..I had that years ago. Problem is....I can't find any!
I vaguely remember Frog Morton....I'll have to look up the others mentioned.
Anyone have experience with the GL Pease blends?
Oh and last but not least, H&H Larry's Blend
Penzance didn't get high marks with me, it's too potent, all around.
I wouldn't mind hearing what others have thought about GLP English blends too.
Well - my favorite English is Peterson's Old Dublin, but it is not, in my view, that full-bodied.
How about C&D Star of the East Flake,or Captain Earle's Ten Russians, by Hermit Tobacco? Both of those blends have lots of latakia.
I smoke probably 90% english these days. Right now I'd have to say H&H Cerebus. Though Larry's Blend is growing on me too.
I also smoke a lot of C&D daVINCI. It doesn't get more latakia than that.
didn't want to give the impression that I'm a Latakia nut.....I'm not looking for the STRONGEST English...just looking for a pleasant change from Margate.
Actually,. I wouldn't mind something on the mellower, slightly sweeter side of the English blends.
Thanks for all the responses. I'm taking notes.
+1 on the Penzance if you like Margate, but H&H Magnum Opus is big and complex and is one of my top 2. GL Pease Sextant certainly deserves mention for WOW factor and how different it tastes, depending upon what pipe you are smoking. It's also flake cut, which you may enjoy as well.
Serling tobacco Tavren has a sweet almost toasted marshmellow after tast unique for sure. American Patriot, Freedom Blend and if you want something really heavy with Lat but can tasts the other tobaccos RICHMOND BLENDER'S CHOICE is a good one from sterling.
I enjoy Bishop's Move by Uhles. I also recently scored some GLP Maltese Falcon and man is that stuff awesome too. For a very smooth morning smoke I also enjoy MacBaren Plumcake. It has just a touch of Latakia. I could go on and on....oh Nightcap is another awesome tobacco.
