A few days ago I discovered how well my Savinelli 320 makes SPC Potlatch shine and haven't been able to lay off of this particular pipe/blend combo since.
Now I'm wondering which blends other folks have found really come to life in this famous big fat Italian author.

Complex blends shine in the 320. I prefer to smoke my Balkan/English blends in my 320s. Aromatics tend to do very well also.

I have four Savinelli 320’s, two are dedicated to MacBarens Vanilla Cream Flake, one to aromatics in general and one to English blends. I’ve found that they smoke most anything well.

No 320's here, but I have three authors -- a Peterson, a Luciano, and a Kaywoodie -- and I will concur that blends with four-six-etc. constituent tobaccos unfold nicely in these broad bowls, maybe because more tobacco and different kinds are burning at once with a broader ember. The broader ember also does a good job with less complex blends or single leaf, giving a big resonant taste with any leaf.

I see the 320 as a little heavy for the size bowl, but I'm in the minority. 320 is easily one of the most beloved shapes, that hefty version of the author. I'm sure it has captured more posting space on Forums than any other single shape/brand. It's a real champ.

I have to say that shape is bewitching. I have to get me one.

Anything; I've found the 320 shape to be a great pipe.
You might also check out the Rossi 8320 as a cost effective alternate.

The 320 is one of my favorite shapes. I use my black Trevi Rusticated for my latakia blends and my Dolomiti smooth for my Burly blends.

I love my 320s. I drift towards orientals and Englishes for mine.
I will admit they are heavy for clenching, but Sav came to the rescue and rolled out the 321, a smaller and lighter author shape.
