The crime rate in the US is not that high. Most of us carry a gun simply because we can. I wrote a 30 page paper for a class on concealed carry laws and their effects, the crime rates are much lower when others carry guns. It fits very well into deterrence theory.

Thanks grafikchaos, I plan on doing some work to it when I can quit spending money on pipes and tobacco.

Hand sanitizer

Travel sized deodorant

My coupon book

And I always have a can of Diet Coke. I don't have a CCW, so I don't carry my gun. Ah, the joys of motherhood!

When I leave the house, I'm headed to the deer woods, the lake or golf course, depending on the time of year and weather. I've become quit a good weather gauge since retirement.... If I'm not in the woods, lake or course, it's lighting!

These are the things I take when I walk out of the house:

Compass

8 Day Watch (with back-up compass)

Small Pocket Knife

Tape Measure

Green Repair Tool

ChapStick

My Nitro Holder

Lightweight Aluminum Frame 1911A-1 Colt Defender .45 with 2 Extra Magazines

Flint and Wick Zippo

Windcap, Tamper and Reamer

Tanker Bag with Assorted Smoking Utensils

iPhone (not in photo, had to take the pic with something)

Arkansas Hunting and Fishing License clipped to Concealed Carry (with the rest of the wallet)
Edit: I forgot to include my Leatherman tool on the back of my belt... I absolutely couldn't do without my Leatherman!

Phone, wallet, keys and pipe (+tamper, tobacco, lighter) depending on if I'm wearing a jacket or not. Seems like a chore to me to carry all those guns and knives and multi-tools and what-not, heh. :P

My phone (every aspect of my businesses seems to channel through the thing), my tunes (iPod), and my wits (what's left of them).
And, of course, my pipe and 'baccy.

I posted all the crap in my pockets on a similar thread. Maybe one day I'll be motivated enough to take a picture. I wouldn't carry a gun if broadswords were legal in Texas, but my attempt at lobbying for legislation has gone nowhere!

The funny thing about Texas is just about every weapon you can think of is illegal, even a club. .45 Automatic? No problem. You can even carry a Mare's leg like Steve McQueen in Wanted Dead or Alive if you can conceal the damn thing because ATF regulations require it to be sold as a pistol. Butterfly knife? Katana? Pointed stick? Go to jail. Whoever came up with those laws must work for the government. I would seriously get a sword permit if they had one.
