And early the next morning we were called to fight again

Unmindful of the wounded and unuseful to the slain

The cannon smoke did hide the sun, ten thousand was the kill

The streams of blood were flowing on top of Shiloh Hill.

Thinking of our Veterans today, I always thought this was a great photograph taken in color of 4 Confederate Veterans at the funeral of one of their comrades in 1922. How young they must have been during the war!

Great Photo Johnny, they must be turning in their Grave at PC crowd now. Mods forgive me, I"m not starting a Horaw, just saddened by the Men in the photos who fought and are demeaned by today's standards. Takes a special breed in their Generation to charge knowing you have not another shot until you have to reload and be a target while you are doing it. What Bravery.

For many, if not most, this is just another day off. Little or no thought to what it represents. This thread may help its readers focus on the great sacrifices that have been made. The bravery shown by so many is awe-inspiring.

Both photos are just outstanding.

Brad,
I researched the men in this photograph some time ago & the man on the left was Harry Rene Lee. He passed away in 1938 at the age of 90.

Posted the colors (put out the flag) this morning with my wife reminding me too. Nice sunny day. A salute to all fellow vets.

Thanks to all the veterans on the board!
We'll honor CSM Alvin Jones (RET) this evening with dinner. This photo was taken in 1969, Vietnam. 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, "Blue Spaders", 1st Infantry Division. At 96, I don't know how many more Veterans Days he has in him. He served in the Pacific in WWII, Korea (two tours) and Vietnam, retiring in 1975. One tough old bird.

Happy Vets day!! To those who did not come home and never quit, mission first, you are remembered by those who got home. Soldiers do not fight for flags or gods, but instead to never fail his brothers to the left or right. Everyone wants to be a warrior, right up until it is time to do warrior shit.
PRESENT ARMS!

ORDER ARMS!
