What the Cap'n said. But do take note: true plugs are meant to be sliced from top to bottom, so that you can get all the different tobaccos making up the blend; if you peel them off you'll lose out on the flavour profile originally intended for the blend to have.

Practice that approach on crumble cakes so that when you get a true plug you're seasoned in cutting and preparing the 'brick' for smoking.

Well... it appears you broke the cake into a crumble, which is fine. Now put that in your pipe, light it, and relax. I would have sliced one slice (put the cake back into the tin) and let the slice dry out for a day. I would have then loaded the fish food into my pipe, lit it, and relaxed. Either way, you're the winner.
