Here are some abbreviations that are commonly used on pipe forums.
965 - Dunhill My Mixture 965

1792 - SG 1792 Flake

5100 - McClelland's 5100

BBF - SG Best Brown Flake

BC - Butz-Choquin Pipes

BCF - GH Bob's Choc Flake

BFP – C&D Baileys Front Porch

B&M - Brick and Mortar, i.e. an actual tobacco store, rather than an online shop.

CAO – A Brand of Meerschaum Pipes

C&D - Cornell & Diehl Tobacco Company

CH - Carter Hall Tobacco (An OTC)

DBE - GH Dark Bird's Eye

DGT - Delayed Gratification Technique

DH - Dunhill

DLF - Dunhill Light Flake

DLNR - Dunhill Deluxe Navy Rolls

EMP - Dunhill Early Morning Pipe

ERR - Edgeworth Ready Rubbed- sometimes ERRd

I know this is threadromancy in the extreme, but perhaps we could make this a sticky, or have this list as a pop-up when you hover over it. I found Bob's abbreviation list helpful, and would've been a godsend when I started smoking months ago...
Just a thought...

I think lordnoble has a great idea. Maybe a sticky or somewhere on one of the side bars would be a good place to put the list, so it is easily accessible.

Brilliant! I was feeling a little lost reading some of these posts.
I had figured out what a B&M was, but had no idea it stood for Brick & Mortar.
PAD had me completely lost.

Having worked as a nurse's Aide when I first saw B&M I missed the & and wondered about someone smoking a bowel movement.

There have been a number of different threads on this but I believe it has always boiled down to a blend that has had a topping or flavoring added to enhance the flavor of the tobacco....
