Ton of pipes with pits need finishing. Would like to know what you carvers would do for the pits to finish the pipes.

Fills on smaller pits, and rustication on larger ones are the usual answers. I'm not a carver, so I'll be interested to hear the "real" answers.

Some of those pipes have some issues other than pits! A number of them look like they had problems deep in the briar itself. Rustication and/or very black stain?
How did you come by this lot?

That was to 400 grit, red brown first coat rubbed out with 99 % isopropyl and then saddle tan dye. Still need to finish stem and buffing.
