Morning Everyone!

I have noticed that our Members both New and those not so new, may be having some difficulty with the Reply Box Buttons. So, I thought I'd post some simple tips, to help out. If any of you want to share some of your Tips and Tricks that you use to simplify your postings, please feel free to post them up.
Button Functions:

Bold, Italics, Underline, Strike Through, and Quote

There are a couple of ways to use these buttons:

1) After you have copy/pasted, or typed your text into the "Reply Box" simply "Highlight" the entire text you desire to accent, then click on the desired "Bold, Italics, Underline, or Strike Through" button. Voila! It's done!

2) Click on one of the "Bold, Italics, Underline, or Strike Through" button. Then type or copy/paste your text in the "Reply Box". Then click on the "Bold, Italics, Underline, or Strike Through" button again. Voila! It's done!
Here is what your text should now look like: (Note: I'm using a "capital X as a place holder for the extra space so it won't function)
[Xquote]What your text should now look like[X/quote]
The "/" is necessary in the last function code for it to work.
URL

This is how I use this function button:

1) I type my "link" description and "Bold" it, in the Reply Box. Then I "Highlight the whole description Bolding Code included Example: [Xb]Bold[ /b] While it's highlighted click on the URL button. Highlight the "http://" in the pop-up box and then paste the URL into the box. Click "OK". You'll notice that the second text box doesn't show up, but the URL is pasted into "Reply Box"... Your are good to go.
Example of what it should look like in the "Reply Box":(Note: I'm using a "capital X as a place holder for the extra space so it won't function)

IMG

One common issue folks have is with posting photos.

If you desire to post a photo from some place else on the internet or from your Pipesmagazine Album. Make sure that the photo is open in another tab. "Right Click" on the body of the "open" photo. And, from the drop-down that appears, select "Copy Imange Address". Return to the "Reply Box" click on the "IMG" button and paste the copied "image address", then click "OK".... POOF! Your done!
I hope these tips and tricks will help.

If you have a trick or tip please post it in this thread.

I'm making this thread "sticky" in the "Pipesmagazine.com" Forum, so it will be easy to find.
Happy Puffing!

Here's another Tip that I just remembered:
When you desire to use "multiple" emoticons; you must remember to place a space between each one.
Without the extra space:

Here is a Tip to save yourself a little time and effort especially when your posting in the What-cha Smokin' threads.
I keep a Pipemagazine folder in my computer.

In that folder are several sub-folders.

A bunch of those folders have "Notepad" pages.

On those "Notepads" are postings that I use with some frequency.

I also keep some "IMG" codes w/URLs for some "off-site" emoticons or GIFs.

Just remember to keep this stuff organized for ease of access.
Procedure:

I'll make my post in the reply box, and include a link to the LuxuryTobaccoReviews.com of that particular blend's review, then copy it before you upload it, and paste it into a Notepad and save it.
Example from one Notepad sheet: (Capital X's used to prevent functions)

[Xurl=http://luxurytobaccoreviews.com/t/samuel-gawith-grousemoor][Xb]Samuel Gawith Grousemoor[/b][/url] in my Wilmer Lightweight Churchwarden.
[Xurl=http://luxurytobaccoreviews.com/t/samuel-gawith-grousemoor][Xb]Samuel Gawith Grousemoor[/b][/url] in my 1C Fat Apple Cavicchi.

[Ximg]http://pipesmagazine.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/album/632/cavicchi047-1-600x450.jpg[/img]
[Xurl=http://luxurytobaccoreviews.com/t/samuel-gawith-grousemoor][Xb]Samuel Gawith Grousemoor[/b][/url] in my [Xurl=http://www.handcraftedpipes.com][Xb]TRG[/b][/url] White Ringed Volcano.

So, when I'm ready to post I just copy/paste the code/text of the desired post into the "Reply Box".
The next time you want to post a particular tobacco with a particular pipe... 3 or 4 clicks a copy/paste... and a Send Post... Your done!

When you are going to comment on someone's post and you want to put their comment on your post, how do you get that line to appear in front of it. Is it automatic if you copy and paste?

Hey Photoman13 that's the "quote" function.

Just copy/paste what you want to quote, then highlight and click the quote button.

Just remember that you always have to have [thingy] to start whatever effect you want and [/thingy] to tell the computer where to stop doing the quote, italics, bold font etc. the [whatever] and [/whatever] are like bookends.
One goof I often see is when using the IMG command in between your [command] and [/command] the URL (that's the web address, (ttp://www.whatever) has to be the URL of the actual image and not a page with the image and a bunch of other crap on it.
If you want a picture of say...Sloth from the Goonies put this url: http://www.toptenz.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Sloth.jpg in between your IMG bookends, Not this one: http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-most-loved-deformed-movie-characters.php

Stolen from Spartan:
I believe he was talking about the quote on the bottom of your post nsFisher.
"If at first yo udon't succeed, have another bowl."
Here's how to do it.
1)Click on your name in a thread like this one.

2)In the upper right click the "Edit" button.

3)Look for where it says "Signature" there will be a box under that. Type away.

Good work, Lawrence. As a reward, here's a three minute video of 19-year old Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke's warmup routine. Advise turning off the annoying song :)
