I'd like to find a really good "jaw hanger" pipe. The hands free smoker that looks so elegant. I'm just unsure of what a good one would be. Any suggestions?

I suggest a bent apple for a hanger. Similar to that 03 Peterson.
I have a Kriswill Clipper Bent Apple that hangs perfect, and one I really enjoy. It won't pass a cleaner, but worth the trouble cleaning after a smoke, because it smokes so well.

Get a Peterson shape 01, 02 or 03. The 03 is the smaller of the three. Fantastic "hangers".
I would add the 14 and 17 shapes, but be aware that the 14 is compact in size and the 17 is a really small pipe.

It all depends on your over-bite/under-bite, jaw strength, the condition of your teeth, whether you will have the pipe deep into your mouth, hold it with just your front teeth, out the side of your mouth, etc. So, pick a shape you like and see how it fits. I choose pipes I know will fit my style. Surprisingly, I find "fish-tail" or P-lip" work with my style It took a while to determine what was most comfortable so, I wouldn't think of suggesting one style for you, too many individual difference and preferences involved.

I just offered on another thread -- take a look at the Pete B11 brandy in various series. It's unappreciated, but it is a relatively light weight, ample bowled, bent sitter, and almost a volcano in shape, but well proportioned.

My current fav. Savinelli Dry System (620) hangs nice, filter helps with those wet blends or the ones that make your mouth water. The bowl size is in the medium+ size. You can't go wrong.

I just got this one today via UPS delivery. It makes the chin hanger grade for me. A Savinelli Punto Oro Classic Bordeaux 614 Hungarian.

GBD makes a solid pipe. I've restored a few I picked up as estates. Somewhere around 1980 they merged with Comoys, and their quality took quite a bit of a hit. If that estate you are looking at is pre-Comoys, snap it up. If it's post-Comoys, it will still be a good pipe, but the Sav is probably a touch better.

I like the Peterson’s for a deep bend. The moisture trap in the shank does an excellent job of keeping things dry. My three favorites are the XL17 (Watson), XL23 (Le Strade), & XL12 (Baskerville).
Here’s a Shape chart

Along with my two Pete B11 brandies, I like my Sav Hercules Hungarian, which because of its U-turn bend feels nearly weightless.
