I have recently become a fan of Decatur tapered pipe cleaners. They are not what I consider a bristled cleaner but have a combination of soft and stiff fibers. They come in bags of 80.

I suppose it's a sign of age that, whenever I strut thru the house yelling, "I need a b.j.!", the wife automatically yells back, "Look in your pipe drawer, Dumbass!".

Another vote for BJ Longs, but I really don't care much. I've never met a pipe cleaner that wouldn't do the trick. Like you OP I also use shank brushes, but not bristled cleaners.
