Popped the tin this morning to smoke with coffee and am relieved that it's not quite as bad as some have described.
The second the lid was removed, my wife said "Wow, that smells like Licorice" and I agree ... Anise.
The overall flavor, however, is that of a sweet Golden Virginia Flake with it's honey / oatmeal notes. The DFK plays way in the background offering up mostly just extra body and a little more strength.
This blend is, in fact, very similar to PH DSF with my nod going to PH's as the better of the two.
Will I stock more of this? Not Likely, but I will finish this tin as a sweet-tooth alternative morning smoke.
BTW ... the lid on this thing was stuck like nobody's business and I had to recruit a helper:
