@paulie66scandinavian also I was back looking at Ashton’s again, and I found the few Italian sites I was browsing, not sure if they have pipes that you’d be interested in. Can’t remember the exact URL, but the sites were Sansone Smoking Store, Bollito Pipe, Vendita Pipe, and Lanzola Pipe Shop. Happy hunting!

Well, this Ashton has founds it’s stride. On a whim I decided to load up some Ennerdale Flake, which I’ve never been able to tease flavors out of in previous attempts. HOLY HELL is this stuff soapy and floral, almost nauseatingly so. I happen to enjoy it quite a lot, but I definitely don’t want to smoke it for more than about 30 minutes.

I can taste every drop of flavor now, almost to an extent that seems absurd. This pipe is the perfect implement for such a blend, and shall be known henceforth as the Prince of Ennerdale.

*** Side note: Today is my 1 year forum anniversary... I’m preferred, baby! Probably not by any of you, but at least by the algorithm that governs this forum, and that’s what matters ?

... but darn if I didn’t just do exactly that. I’ve never found them remotely attractive until I laid eyes on this baby. It’s stamped “CORPS 30TH” in addition to the usual Ashton markings. From 2014, apparently it’s some sort of special run for the CORPS Pipe Show? Don’t know a thing about any of that, but she’s a fine looking pipe. The length of stem really allows the Cumberland pattern to shine, and at 6.5” this is my longest pipe by far, almost verging into baby Churchwarden territory by the looks of it. Anyway, won’t have it for a few days, just thought I’d spam everyone with more Ashton porn ?

Beautiful pipe!!!

@Jack T thank you!

I’m pleased with the pipe overall. I have discovered that the draft hole is drilled low in relation to where it comes out inside the bowl. Essentially, it creates a small trench of sorts for loose tobacco to fall into, either getting in my mouth or clogged in the stem upon the first few draws.

An unfortunate annoyance, to be sure. It requires thoughtful rubbing out and packing of tobacco, but it’s not an outright dealbreaker. Other than that small flaw, it smokes great, and looks even better.

This is the only Ashton I have that is drilled a teeny tiny bit low, all the others are ?

I am a huge spigot lover as well. One of my favorites ever (which is also kind of cross between a prince and a tomato) is my Peterson 2005 Pipe of the Year. Not a huge Pete fan generally, but this pipe kicks ass and the Spigot Silver work is incredible.

Hi, I would like to ask you what are the advantages that you see in spigot systems. Or it is just a matter of personal preference. Thank you

No smoking advantage, simply aesthetics. I suppose it is easily broken down immediately after smoking if you need to store it in two pieces (guessing that need isn't prevalent).
One minor downside is you need to make sure the two pieces are fully engaged if you are smoking in cold weather.

For those who'd like to add a prince to the rack but aren't up with high price pipes right now, SP has a nice group of Rossi prince shapes for about $44. In my experience, Rossi are Sav shapes with less fancy finishes, but good serviceable pipes. I have one Rossi prince and a Rossi Palermo yacht.

The Ashton prince is delectable to me. My most exotic prince is a Sav Prince of Wales, a long stem with swirls, and a rusticated bowl with a smooth stain brim. This was marketed for a year or two and then discontinued so far as I know. The long stem makes this a sort of a prince version of the Bings Favorite. It's a good smoker.

That pipe sounds awesome! I have one of their qandale 315 KS prince shapes (also a long stem, 8.5 inches) and I love it!
