I tried this for the first time this afternoon and got excellent results. 10 seconds in the microwave and I got a great smoke.

I started cautiously at 5 seconds as this new microwave seems to nuke things pretty quick. I was really happy with the result. Still I may try a little longer next time.

Back when PC monitors were big boxy things that used to take up your whole desk, I'd dry tobacco on a sheet of paper placed on top of the monitor. That was nice... took maybe 10 minutes, fast enough to be convenient but slow enough to have plenty of control. I won't be going back to those old CRT's, but it was a nice perk.

I find this works very well i have noticed deformation of styrofoam plate underneath the tobacco so im guessing glass plates are better suited.
