I always love participating in the Kansas City Carving competition- pipemakers tend to have certain styles they like to make and this forces you out of that comfort zone...The good news is that every year, I see some improvement in what I make, the bad news is that the competition gets much better every year...So, maybe next year...
This is the one I sent- Buddha Bamboo with an Ooosic accent and some of the most interesting SEM stem material I've seen...thought it came out rather nice....

Thanks! That was a great piece of briar...and that stem material was a limited production from SEM...down to my last couple of pieces- wish I had more of it...
