The "imported briar" language always suggests a U.S. made pipe because pipes were made
with some "off" materials during the briar shortage during World War II, so as soon as possible,
pipe makers reassured buyers that the pipes were made of "real" imported briar instead of some
substitute wood or material. Lorco draws a complete blank with me. My first suspect would be one
of the better known pipe makers that did this as a sub-brand for a short while, or as a house pipe
brand or promotional item for some other company. I would look for resemblances to one of the
better-known brands such as Dr. Grabow, Yello Bole, Kaywoodie, or Benton, etc.
