Hi jndyer. Not a tobacco recommendation, but aeros do very well - in a well pipe. The opening to the bowl is located above a well, which lets the annoying moisture fall down and avoids the gurgle many aeros produce. A long stem is a plus too. They like to burn hot and it cools the smoke.

Some (widely divergent) aromatic faves with me:
+1 on the Cult Blood Red Moon.

EITC Cellar Reserve

SG Fire Dance Flake

SG Grousemoor

Mac Baren Vanilla Cream

Peterson's St. Patrick's Day 2015, now morphed into Founder's Choice
Most recently Samual Gawith's Brown Sugar Flake... fine VAs, VERY tobacco-y, mesmerizing aromas and flavors. (I wanted to buy more but can't seem to find it now... it was just "out there" very recently.)
And C&D "Bijou"... "married with a hint of honey"... I guess not technically an aro, per se, but my family loves the aroma and I get all that age VA smooth complexity and tobacco satisfaction. (Don't know if this is one the C&D mold cases now or not.)
