I have a gold colored one just like the one on the right. One of my old cigar lighters. The one on the left is way cool. My days of buying Duponts are long gone as I have enough and hardly ever use them. They do make some gorgeous lighters.

Folks, these are not DuPonts. They are knockoffs. Beautiful knockoffs that cost me all of $25 each delivered.. At least I assume that they are knockoffs, since I don't have a new, similar S.T. DuPont to compare them to. They go *ping", they have some heft to them, and the workmanship level looks quite good (nice thick chrome) but they do seem to lack that sharp, refined fit and finish that you'd expect if you paid actual retail.
We'll see how they hold up.

That’s ok woodsroad, you didn’t say it was expensive porn, sometimes the cheap stuff is just as fun to look at

Great pictures and spot on metering (or lighting if iPhone) with the silver reflections. I’m sure those beauties will be fine for a few years.

Neal, it's an iPhone photo. A little manual exposure adjustment, a little PS tweak on the blacks and vignette, but mostly it's just nice light, courtesy of a passing storm.

Hmmmm. I posted a query about that maker. Chinese, yes? We'll see how they hold up, yes? Meanwhile, I got a nice Dunhill for my porn needs. Photos one day.

Yes, there are giveaways that these are fakes. My intent wasn’t to try to fool anyone. They just looked like nice lighters. So far, they are holding their own.

Well, I bit. How can you pass up a $500 lighter for 25 bucks!? Can't wait to try it out.

The true story's on the bottom, with the fake "serial numbers". At least he's showing people those in the auction pics & calling them "memorial" lighters.
The "Made in France" stamping is what really seals the deal.
It said it was the last one of that batch. And, at least an hour later, there aren't any more of that model on the Bay.

So you went with the 2 dollar crack whore instead of the 1000.00 an hour escort. I like it.
The end result is pretty much the same. Our imaginations can get the best of us, and drain our wallets to the detriment of our peace of mind.
