So, I made some more tampers this weekend. Made a new one out of Zebra wood, and I must say, I'm really enjoying the work I'm doing with Zebra wood. It's almost magical to carve it and watch as the darker grain slowly reveals itself. I worked on my Zebra wood tamper on Saturday and celebrated with a bowlful of G&H Rum Twist in my Peterson 999 Christmas pipe with a Yuengling Black and Tan.

Then yesterday, it was even more perfect to sit in a chair just outside my garage with a nice piece of Walnut I had on hand and carved another. I think Walnut and Zebra woods are now my favorite woods to work with for tampers. I sat outside, smoked some Sleepy Hollow in a cob and filed away. I really do enjoy carving these by hand with just a few files and sandpaper. It really is a relaxing experience.
Once it got later in the afternoon, I popped open a few more Black & Tans before ordering up some pizza for the amazing dud of a Super Bowl game, fired up some Trafalgar in my Dr. Grabow Color Duke and sat on my back porch waiting for the game to start.

Thank you kindly, fellas! It was a really good day for it. Not too hot, not too cold, just perfect to sit in my old beat up bibs and a flannel shirt. I find that to be my happiest place. I'm definitely going to need an actual workshop when I move into my next house. Can't wait to have more room. I'm going to be borderline dangerous!
