How many bowls to a pouch?

I am just trying to know approximately how many bowls, on overage, do you get with a pouch of tobacco. I believe standard size is 1.5 oz. How many grams is typically loaded on average, and thus how many bowls would you reasonably expect to enjoy? Thanks.

The answer is 'it depends'. 2 big Factors;

- How big is the bowl of your pipe

- How do you pack the pipe
Assuming you pack consistently, the pipe you choose should net an average over time.

At around 28 grams per ounce and an average of 2 to 3 grams per bowl,

you'll get approx 9-14 bowls per ounce or 15-25 bowls per 1.76 oz tin.
Compared to cigars, cigs, etc ... cheap!! ::

Thats somewhere in the neighbourhood of 15 to 50 plus hours of smoking in a tin, not bad at all.

Yeah, I'd guess about twenty, in various size bowls. It's a great bargain, but don't tell the tobacco

tax people or they'll be all over it.

I've actually been keeping stock on how much I get for tin, just for fun. I've only finished two tins, J.F. Germain's Brown Flake and McConnell Scottish Flake and I got 16 bowls from each. And I'm about half way through 2oz of Billy Budd and so far I've smoked 10 bowls. For me it seems it's about 15 bowls / 50 grams or ~3g per bowl.
