Found this pipe on the local eBay site and I kind of like it, plus it looks as a good second restoration project.
The thing is that I do not have a clue about its worth and I think neither does the seller.

I would also like to approximately date it if possible.
The guy is asking USD 60 for the pipe. Sounds right?
Cheers,
J

Pre-merger GBF, stem looks mint, bowl is also in very good shape. An easy clean-up. If you like the Perspex stems, the price is about right. A 9487 GBD second line was just listed, at a higher BIN, for perspective (in similar condition).

I'm no GBD value expert (and there are several around here), but it seems somewhat high to me. Of the two 9487's that sold recently on e-bay, a Prestige (the top grade) went for $56, and two Virgins (another high grade) went in the $10-13 range.
Wait for someone who knows what he's talking about to weigh in.
I do like that shape, though. And that looks like a nice pipe.

Excluding pipes that need restored, based on this, that might be a little high. This seller usually gets a pretty good price on his offerings.

$60 isn't way out of bounds. You can do far better if you are willing to restore the pipe.

I agree with Al. For a pipe in that condition the price isn't excessive. If you want better pricing you'll have to settle for pipes needing a lot more work as a rule. That pipe is in very good shape and doesn't need much. The difference of $4 between examples doesn't constitute anything significant and Perspex stems were made in far fewer numbers than other bits which makes that pipe worth just a bit more as a collectable than similar examples with standard bits. You're at the high end but in the ball park @ $60.

As a follow up, here's the same pipe offered at $69.

Indeed. In fact, I just bought a Prestige (508 with black Perspex) thinking it higher up the grade scale, probably confusing it with Pedigree somewhere in my mind. Perhaps that was their intention! Luckily, it's a wonderful pipe regardless.

This pipe is in really good shape. The clear stem would reveal lack of cleaning or misuse. I don't know this particular market, although this thread gives me a feel for it. The price seems a little high but fair. Much depends how you feel about it in terms of appearance, shape, finish, and the clear stem. If the pipe is as sound as it looks, and you really like the pipe, I don't think sixty is a rip-off.
