Here
Brian is implying the loss of sponsors to fund the site.

It's possible, however, that the sellers may still wish to reach the target audience of the face to face sales, still, so some level of sponsorship may continue.

Wait, what?

Just spreadin' rumors lol.

No, seriously, it's only a matter of time until that happens. Hopefully later rather than sooner.

It's already happened at the state level in a few states, but there are regulatory and legislative efforts at the national level as well...we can only hope it doesn't happen soon.

I don’t know. Some of the cellars I’ve seen on this site can rival the stock at smokingpipes. I think we’ll stick around. If for nothing else, underground trading and sales

Oh I'm sure the membership would stick around...but how is Kevin going to fund the site?

Perhaps if it becomes paid membership I guess.

EDIT: I see Jay beat me to it...but yeah, Kevin needs the ad revenue to keep this place up and running.

Ah, yes, that could complicate things. Maybe it will just have to become pipesandpornmagazine.com

Everything that everyone said as far as the increase in membership, and even more so in lurker traffic, is correct.

A nearly 11-year old site with a ton of content kills in Google.

The revamp has increased traffic on mobile devices.

The traffic used to be 75% desktop. Now it is 75% mobile.

Thanks to all of the new members for joining and participating, and thanks to the long-term members for sticking around.

It warms my heart to see Buzkirk and Bob actively participating, and Bob for coming out of "retirement".

Yes, thanks, Jay, but I still don't know what it means, as in a good thing or bad—helps or hurts? Fair or unfair? Mechanism?

The current google algorithm surfaces this site well, because it has features which make it look credible. Long age, lots of interlinked content, not being spammy. Until google decides that it has to down rank all tobacco content, this site will be high on search results.

Being a BIG fan of the Radioshow... I hope this boost in forum membership also boosts listeners to the show.

I need to do some binge listening to catch up on things on there, but it makes a great listen for car trips... and this is the car trip season. puffy

And, for you guys just joining the forum, you really need to give it a shot. Brian is a class act, with some of the best guests for a pipe show.

Exactly.

Google gets to decide who has the right to exist...who lives and dies...and what info the masses are allowed to access.

I'm surprised they still acknowledge anything related to tobacco.

Yeah, Google sux. But it's what most turn to, regardless.

The platform upgrade helps, indeed. I'm still on a desktop and shall continue to browse from a computer, desktop or laptop; but I do remember Poogle threatening to penalise with rankings or whatever those sites that didn't fully support mobile devices. As a site owner, I got the 'warning' but decided not to comply anyway. To this day, my site is not mobile-compatible and shall remain so for the foreseeable future.
