estate cobs ???

Ok so being a frugal pipe smoker, I purchased 2 used cobs. I tried to clean them with the alcohol treatment and it was soaked up by the pipes. How do I clean and sanitize these. Only paid 2.50$ for both and they are the diplomat style.

Only smoked once each.

It was a quarter and it became part of a collection for 1976 coin collection. Still have some were. :rofl:

alcohol evaporates just leave em alone for a few days and they will be all right

If you can set them in the sun, do so for several days. Then use pipecleaners moistened with pipe spirits/alcohol to clean them properly. Then let them dry for at least a day. I buy lots of estate pipes and get old cobs mixed in with the pipes I want. I restore them like any briar pipe. They can still be smoked. I usually give them to friends but I have thrown away a good share. Buying and collecting old American cobs can be fun and there were lots of companies in Missouri before MM bought them all out. There a some floating around on eBay and some are in great condition.
And yes the alcohol will dry out...
