Vegas Baby!!!
Hey gang, just grabbed this old Dunnie. It is supposed to be from 1944 but I can't imagine Dunhill was selling pipes for general purchase in France of 1944, but what do I know. Any help is greatly appreciated. The Bulldog shape grabbed and the "Fabrication Anglise" sold me.
The pipe is stamped Dunhill over Shell Briar. Patent number is 417574/34 and Made in England has a Suffix of 4 that is underlined.
It reportedly has an original stem.
My understanding, limited as it may be, it that Fabrication Anglise ended because of the start of WWII.
They pictures are from the seller's listing.

Briar was, or was getting, scarce by then because of the war. This could have been made from remaining stock. In the US pipe makers started using Mountain Laurel and other woods. 1944 would have been in the thick of things, so this pipe is an interesting oddity. But some of our Dunhill historians may shed some light and facts on this.

First impression, the pipe was made in 1954. Note the Group/Finish code 3 S introduced in 1951. I can only gies the "Fabrication Anglise" was required for it's export to France. :)

Thank you gentlemen. I suspected it was a 54 with a few oddities thrown in for fun. Btw it is a hair over 5 inches and weighs 28 grams so I'm extremely excited, because it's short and light. Woohoo!!

From pipephil.eu website

"FABRICATION ANGLAISE" was reserved for pipes intended for export to France. "FABRICATION ANGLAISE" stamping was canceled with World War II.
