In the 1970s and 1980s there was a tobacco store in Las Vegas by the name of Mr Pipes of Las Vegas. He had some very interesting art work that hung in the store. The store was located at Maryland Square Shopping Center in Las Vegas. Does anyone remember this store and what was the owners name?

Thanks for the reading and responding. I have been lead to believe that his name was Joe Beniers or Veniers (also spelling may be different). It is beleived that he had several tobacco shops and he was also involved in selling high end muscial equipment and instruments. He also supposedly make have had a degree in international law. Hopefully someone else will have an exact answer. Again thanks for taking the time to respond.

No the gentleman does not owe me any money. I am part of the Big Bear Historical Soceity and we are doing a research project on one of our local painters from the 1960s and 1970s. His name is Alan Woods and he past away in 1983. Alan did a large number of paintings for the owner of a Las Vegas tobacco store by the name of "Mr. Pipes of Las Vegas". The owner of the store commissioned some 30 paintings all involving smoking pipes/cigars/etc. The owner had several tobacco stores in the area as well as some high end musical insturment store. There is some belief that his name was Joe Beneir or Joe Venier. The spelling may include a "s" on the end of the name. He supposedly had a degree in international law but the Nevada Bar Association does not have anything on him. The stores in question were most likely in business as early as 1950 and were most likely out of business around 1980. He may also have been involved with reproducing several of Alan's paintings in a poster or lithograph format. Anybody have any information on this tobacco store owner? Anybody have an idea on where to search inside the tobacco industry that may have an idea on this man? Perhaps is there a retired tobacco sales man in your group that may have sold product to this man?
